With profound sorrow and deep affection, we announce the passing of Cristeta Franco, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who departed this world on May 4, 2026, at the age of 85. Cristeta was born on October 12, 1940, in Manila, Philippines, to Hermenio and Rosario Vargas. She peacefully passed away while surrounded by her three devoted children following a severe stroke. Cristeta's life was a tapestry of love, dedication, and warmth. She married the love of her life, Ralph Franco, on May 7, 1967, in Brooklyn, NY. Together, they embarked on a beautiful journey that spanned 59 years, nurturing a family and creating a home filled with laughter and joy. Their union was blessed with three children—Cristine, Melissa, and Ralph—and their legacy continues through six cherished grandchildren: Christopher, Jordan, Cassandra, Ralphie, Haley, and Violet. Her great-granddaughter, Torvi, brought additional light into Cristeta's life. A pillar of strength and compassion, Cristeta dedicated over 30 years to her career as a registered nurse. Her gentle hands and caring heart served countless patients at esteemed institutions such as Medical Arts, New York Foundling, and Lutheran Medical Center. Her professional life was a testament to her nurturing spirit, and she touched the lives of many with her empathy and skill. Cristeta's passions were as vibrant as her personality. She took immense joy in cooking traditional Filipino dishes, serving them with love to family and friends alike. Her home was often the center of joyful gatherings, where she and Ralph would dance the cha cha, their movements in perfect harmony, much like their life together. Her hospitality was renowned, and her laughter was a melody that resonated with all who knew her. Though Cristeta was predeceased by her parents, Hermenio and Rosalina Vargas, and her brother, Samuel Vargas, her spirit and legacy continue to thrive through her surviving family. Her husband Ralph, her children, and her grandchildren will forever hold her memory close, drawing strength from her enduring love and the countless moments of happiness she gifted them. Cristeta's life was a testament to the power of love, resilience, and kindness. She leaves behind a legacy of compassion and warmth that will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her.
