In Loving Memory

Craig Speaks
December 1, 1953 — May 27, 2026
It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Craig Speaks, a beloved father, grandfather, and friend, who passed away peacefully on May 27, 2026, after a courageous battle with illness. Craig was born on December 1, 1953, in Mount Vernon, Ohio, to the late Charles and Florence Speaks, who have predeceased him.
Craig's life was a tapestry woven with love, dedication, and a profound connection to his family and community. He grew up in Colorado, graduating from Pueblo County High School in 1972. Driven by a strong sense of duty and service, he joined the United States Navy in 1973, serving as a Dental Technician until 1977, when he was honorably discharged.
Not one to rest on his laurels, Craig pursued higher education and graduated from USC in Pueblo, CO, in 1981 with a Bachelor's Degree in Mass Communications. His career was as varied and vibrant as the man himself. Craig worked at Clark Livestock in Boone, CO, from 1985 to 1988, and later moved to Oregon, where he continued to make significant contributions at Agri-Industries, The Bark Place, and the Corvallis Parks Department. He also spent time as a truck driver, embodying the hardworking spirit that defined much of his life.
Craig was a man of many passions. He was an avid arborist, a testament to his deep love for the outdoors, and an active member of a club dedicated to this pursuit. His commitment to service extended beyond his professional life; he was a proud member of both the American Legion and the Masons, organizations that reflect his dedication to community and brotherhood.
Above all, Craig cherished his family. He is survived by his former spouses, Sandra Ballard and Stephanie Goodman Hendrix, who remained dear to him throughout his life. He leaves behind his loving children: Cody Speaks, Wade Speaks, and Sheree and Kawai Mahi. His legacy extends to his four cherished grandchildren, Eden, Odin, Dean, and Cade Speaks, who will all carry forward his spirit and love.
Craig's family, which includes numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, was central to his life. He relished spending time with them, and his friends, creating memories that will be treasured forever.
Friends and family are invited to honor Craig's life at a service on June 20, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Huston-Jost Funeral Home, located at 86 W Grant St, Lebanon. A viewing will be held on Friday, June 19th, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM.
A gathering will be held at the
American Legion Post 51 at 480 S Main St Lebanon from 2-4 PM

Craig Speaks touched the lives of many and left an indelible mark on the hearts of those who knew him. His warmth, kindness, and unwavering strength will be profoundly missed but will live on in the stories and memories shared by those who loved him.
May he rest in peace, surrounded by the tranquility of the nature he so dearly loved.
