December 1, 1953 — May 27, 2026

It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Craig Speaks, who left this world on May 27, 2026, at the age of 72, after a courageous battle with illness. Born on December 1, 1953, in Mount Vernon, Ohio, Craig's life was a testament to resilience, dedication, and love—a love he generously shared with family, friends, and his community. Craig was the beloved son of Charles and Florence Speaks, who preceded him in death. He leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories with his former spouses, Sandra Ballard and Stephanie Goodman Hendrix. His spirit continues to live on through his children, Cody Speaks, Wade Speaks, and Sheree and Kawai Mahi, and his four beloved grandchildren: Eden, Odin, Dean, and Cade Speaks. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, who will forever hold him dear in their hearts. Craig graduated from Pueblo County High School in 1972 and went on to serve his country with honor as a Dental Technician in the United States Navy from 1973 to 1977. His commitment to service earned him an honorable discharge, showcasing his dedication to both his nation and his fellow servicemen and women. After his service, Craig pursued higher education, graduating from USC in Pueblo, Colorado, in 1981 with a Bachelor's Degree in Mass Communications, a field that perfectly suited his articulate and expressive nature. Craig's professional life was as diverse as his interests, beginning with his work at Clark Livestock in Boone, Colorado, from 1985 to 1988. His career journey led him to Oregon, where he contributed his talents to Agri-Industries, The Bark Place, and the Corvallis Parks Department, as well as exploring the open roads as a truck driver. A man of many passions, Craig was a devoted member of the American Legion and a proud Mason. His love for the outdoors was well-known, and he was an avid arborist, finding peace and purpose among the trees. Craig cherished every moment spent in the company of family and friends, creating memories that will be cherished for generations to come. A service to celebrate Craig's life will be held on June 20, 2026, at 11:00 AM at the Huston-Jost Funeral Home, located at 86 W Grant St, Lebanon. Friends and family are welcome to pay their respects at a viewing on Friday, June 19, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. Craig Speaks will be remembered for his unwavering strength, his generous heart, and the indelible impact he made on all who knew him. His legacy will continue to inspire those he leaves behind, reminding us of the power of love, dedication, and the beauty of a life well-lived.
