Craig Russell Porter, 70, of Los Angeles, CA passed away June 12th, 2026 surrounded by his loved ones.
Craig was welcomed into this world by his father, James Porter and his mother, Olga Durden. Craig grew up playing baseball and basketball. His personality was infectious and his ability to make people laugh was what he was well known for and because of this, he has a circle of childhood friends that have been in his life for decades.
Craig did many things throughout his life but most notable was working over the road in a big rig and then taking that transportation experience over to RTA, where he retired from later on in life.
Craig enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was most well known for a good laugh with his plethora of jokes he told and following it up with some smack talk. He took pride in his appearance and made sure he kept himself in shape by going to the gym as much as he could. He was an old soul and it showed in his taste of music. You could catch him listening to his favorites like the Stylistics and the Dramatics. He took pride in making sure his car and home was clean at all times. He loved watching his favorite sports, college football on Saturdays and his LA Rams on Sundays, as well as the LA Lakers during basketball season.
Craig is survived by his wife, Karen Porter of 12 years and his 4 children: Carrie, Jasmine, Waverly and Justin Porter and their mothers, Cecelia Rayford and Carol Perkins, as well as his 2 grand children, Cinsere Floyd and Ariana Gaines.. Also survived by Craig are his 7 stepchildren, 18 step grandchildren and 4 great stepchildren and his furry feline, Toby Porter. Craig also has 2 surviving siblings, brother Gregory Holmes and his children and grand children and his sister, Terri Wallace and her children and grandchildren. Lest not also forget all of his other family members not mentioned earlier and friends he met throughout his life that loves and cared for him, dearly. Craig was welcomed into heaven by his mother, father and a grand daughter, Carter Malone.
