It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Craig King, a cherished father, grandfather, and friend to many. Craig peacefully departed this world on March 29, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was 84 years old. Born on December 2, 1941, in the serene city of Portland, Maine, Craig was the beloved son of Landon and Mary King. Raised with love and nurtured by his devoted parents, Craig blossomed into a man whose life was marked by acts of kindness and an enduring smile that touched all who had the privilege of knowing him. Craig's early years were filled with curiosity and a passion for learning, which led him to attend Towson University. Armed with knowledge and a zest for life, he embarked on a career as a mechanic, a profession he loved and dedicated over 30 years to. His meticulous attention to detail and unwavering dedication made him not only a respected colleague but also a trusted friend to all who worked alongside him. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Craig was an avid fisherman, a hobby that brought him immense joy and peace throughout his life. Whether casting a line into the tranquil waters or sharing tales of the one that got away, Craig's love for fishing was as deep as the oceans he revered. In quieter moments, he found solace in the pages of books, nurturing a lifelong love for reading that expanded his horizons and enriched his soul. Craig was predeceased by his beloved parents, Landon and Mary King, and his cherished wife, Julie King, with whom he shared a life filled with love and laughter. Together, they created a family that would become his greatest legacy. He is survived by his loving children, Josh and Stephanie, who were the light of his life, and his three treasured grandchildren, Zach, Chase, and Brody, who brought boundless joy to his days. Craig's warmth, generosity, and infectious smile left an indelible mark on everyone he met. His legacy of kindness and compassion will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him. As we gather to remember and celebrate his life, we find comfort in the memories we hold dear and the love that endures. A service to honor Craig's life will be held on March 31, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Jones, Rich & Barnes Funeral Home, located at 199 Woodford St, Portland, ME 04103. Family, friends, and all whose lives were touched by Craig are warmly invited to attend and pay their respects. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to St. Jude, an organization dedicated to fighting cancer in children, a cause close to Craig's heart.
