With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Craig Harper (Oerlemans), a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, who left this world peacefully on March 8, 2026, at St. Joseph's Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on May 8, 1970, in Hamilton, Ontario, Craig spent 55 years enriching the lives of those around him with his infectious spirit and unwavering love for life. Craig was the cherished son of the late Lynn Harper (Oerlemans) and John Oerlemans. His mother's passing left a profound mark on him, yet he carried her memory with grace and strength, qualities that defined his character. He is survived by his devoted wife, Susan, and their loving daughter, Lauren, who were the center of his universe. Craig was also a proud brother to Adam, Steven, John, Shelley, and Anne, each of whom held a special place in his heart. He doted on his grandchild, embracing the joys of grandparenthood with open arms and a playful spirit. A hardworking and dedicated employee, Craig spent many years at National Steel Car, where he not only demonstrated his commitment to his craft but also forged lasting friendships with colleagues who became an extended family. Outside of work, Craig was known for his love of the great outdoors. An avid fisherman, camper, and hunter, he found peace and solace in nature's embrace. Family and friends are invited to the viewing to remember Craig on March 14 and 15th, 2026, from 11 a.m to 2pm at Markey-Dermody Funeral Home, located at 1774 King St E Hamilton, ON L8K 1V7. As we gather to honor Craig's memory, we will remember not only the laughter and love he shared but also the legacy of kindness and resilience he leaves behind. A small gathering will be held for Family at The Fool And Flagon on Monday March 16th 2026, located at 2255 Barton St E Hamilton, ON L4H 7T4 following the burial service that takes place at 11am at East Lawn Cemetery, located at 2280 Barton St E Hamilton, ON L8E 2W8. Craig Harper (Oerlemans) will forever be remembered for his unwavering love, his boundless energy, and the indelible mark he left on all who knew him. May his soul rest in peace, and may his memory be a guiding light for those he leaves behind.
