In loving memory, we celebrate the life of Cortez LaShawn Folson, affectionately known as "TEZ," who departed this world far too soon on May 27, 2026, at the age of 27. Cortez was born on July 16, 1998, in the vibrant city of Memphis, Tennessee, a place that forever held his heart and shaped the man he became. Cortez was born to Deljuan and Shauna Folson, who instilled in him the values of strength, spirituality, and unwavering belief. From an early age, Cortez demonstrated a remarkable ability to connect with people through his gift of storytelling and his unforgettable sense of humor. He had a rare talent for lighting up any room, his talkative and funny spirit leaving an indelible mark on everyone he met. Despite life's challenges, Cortez carried himself with a strength that inspired those around him. His firm beliefs and spiritual nature were the cornerstones of his character, guiding him through life's journey and providing solace to those who sought his counsel. He was a beacon of light, always ready to entertain and uplift, ensuring that laughter was never in short supply wherever he went. Cortez was preceded in death by his beloved father, Deljuan Folson, and cherished grandparents Mattie Traylor, James Traylor, and Leroy Folson. Their memories were a source of strength and inspiration for him throughout his life. He leaves behind a family that adored him beyond measure. His mother, Shauna Folson, carries forward his legacy with grace and love. Cortez's light continues to shine through his son, Cortez Parker, who was his pride and joy. He is also survived by his devoted sisters, Kentoria Vester and Keshauna Vester, and his brother Oliver Pugh. His nieces, Kayla and Kennedi Vester, brought him endless joy and laughter. His grandmothers, Vera Folson and Bernice Walker, were two pillars of strength in his life. Along with them, a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends mourn his passing while cherishing the countless memories he leaves behind. A service to honor the life of Cortez will be held on June 6, 2026, at 9:00 AM, at the Ebenezer Baptist Church, located at 1807 John Paul Driver, Memphis, TN 38114. Family, friends, and all those who were touched by Cortez's vibrant spirit are invited to join in celebrating a life that was lived with passion and joy.
