CORNELL BRANTLEY

May 16, 1975 — April 16, 2026

With heavy hearts and profound sadness, we announce the passing of Cornell Brantley, beloved son, brother, father, and friend, who left this world on April 16, 2026, after a courageous battle with kidney disease. Born on May 16, 1975, in San Leandro, California, Cornell lived a life full of love, laughter, and a remarkable zest for life that touched everyone he encountered. Cornell was the cherished son of Rosie Loretta Brantley and Johnny Romero Underwood. His life was enriched by his grandparents, William and Rosalie Thomas, and uncles William Lusk, Danny Thomas, Jermaine Thomas, Rick Thomas, and aunt Evelyn Thomas, who have all predeceased him. Their memories remained a guiding presence throughout his life. Cornell found immense joy in his role as a father, proudly raising his children Dashay Collins, Naythaniel Brantley, Heaven Brantley, Miarrie Brantley, and Mileeah Brantley. His love and dedication to them were unparalleled, and he leaves them with countless cherished memories. He was also blessed with one grandchild, who brought him unending happiness and pride. Cornell's life was adorned with the warmth and camaraderie of his siblings Keesha Edwards, Ervin Livingston Jr., Willie Pettaway, Aiesha Livingston, and Spencer Pettaway. Together, they formed a close-knit family, supporting each other through life's trials and triumphs. For over 20 years, Cornell honed his culinary skills as a sous chef, where his passion for cooking and sharing exotic foods was evident in every dish he prepared. His ability to bring people together through food was rivaled only by his talent for making the entire room laugh with his quick wit and infectious humor. Outside of the kitchen, Cornell was a passionate fisherman, eagerly casting his line into serene waters, finding peace in the gentle rhythm of the waves. He loved playing games, immersing himself in music, and enjoying television and movies, often sharing his favorites with friends and family. An avid reader, Cornell found solace and adventure within the pages of countless books. Cornell's legacy is one of joy, laughter, and love. His ability to find humor in every situation and his infectious laughter will be remembered by all who knew him. He was a beacon of warmth and kindness, always ready to share a meal or a story, and his absence leaves a void that cannot be filled. A service to celebrate Cornell's life will be held on May 16, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Southbay Community Church, located at 47385 Warm Springs, Fremont, CA. Family, friends, and all whose lives were touched by Cornell are welcome to join in honoring his memory. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Cornell's name to organizations supporting kidney disease research, in hope of aiding others in their battle. Cornell Brantley will be forever remembered for his loving spirit, his joyful laughter, and his unwavering love for his family. Though he may have left this world, his legacy of love and laughter will continue to inspire and warm the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to have known him.
