In Loving Memory of Cornelius Coleman
On July 5, 2026, the world lost a beloved soul, Cornelius Coleman, aged 72, who peacefully departed after a brief illness at NY Presbyterian Queens Hospital. Born on November 22, 1953, in Gladstone, Virginia, Cornelius, known affectionately to many as "Brad," leaves behind a legacy of love, dedication, and warmth.
Cornelius was the cherished son of the late Coleman and Bernice Coleman, who instilled in him the values of kindness and generosity. He was predeceased by his beloved parents, but their spirit lived on in him, guiding him through a life filled with meaningful connections and joyous memories.
In the bustling heart of the Bronx, Cornelius met the love of his life, Donna, on a blind date that blossomed into a beautiful partnership spanning over fifty years. Their union, characterized by love at first sight, was blessed with a wonderful son, Ahsan, and a delightful grandson, Logan, who brought immense joy to Cornelius's life.
Cornelius's professional journey saw him working diligently as a porter and maintenance man at JFK Airport, where he was known for his reliability and steadfast work ethic. He completed his education in electrical engineering, a testament to his dedication and intellectual curiosity.
Family was the cornerstone of Cornelius's life. He is survived by his devoted wife, Donna, his adoring son, Ahsan, and his beloved grandson, Logan. His four caring sisters, Deborah (and brother-in-law Roger), Tanya (and brother-in-law Mike), Robin, and Mitzu (and brother-in-law Daniel), along with his many nieces and nephews, whom he treasured dearly, were central figures in his life. His nieces and nephews—Aaron, Alexandria (affectionately known as Muffin), Angelos, Angelica, Asa, Adonai, Adam, Ian, Brandon, Brittanie, Darren (aka baby D'), and Trendel—brought him immense pride and joy. Cornelius also shared a special bond with his close cousins Gloria, Silisa, Evangeline, Dwana, Annelida, Georette, Lucy, Kenneth, Tawanda, and Marvin, as well as a host of great-nieces and nephews.
Cornelius had a heart as vast as the skies, always ready to lend a helping hand or share a unique laugh that would light up any room. Although he wasn't much of a talker, his presence was felt deeply by those around him. His generosity knew no bounds, and his heart of gold was evident to all who knew him.
In his leisure, Cornelius found joy in the simple pleasures of life, such as exploring flea markets and watching boxing matches. Family vacations to Outdoor World, the Poconos, Governor Spotwood in Virginia, and adult getaways to Las Vegas were highlights that he cherished deeply.
A service to celebrate Cornelius's life will be held on July 16, 2026, at Eternity Funeral Home, located at 129 Engle Street, Englewood, NJ. Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance of a man who touched countless lives with his kindness and warmth.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to a charity of your choice in Cornelius's memory, honoring his generous spirit.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the team at NY Presbyterian Queens Hospital for their compassionate care and support during Cornelius's final days.
As we say goodbye to Cornelius, we hold onto the memories of his gentle spirit and the love he shared. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness and a reminder of the power of a life well-lived. May he rest in peace, forever cherished in our hearts.
