In Loving Memory of Corey
It is with deep sorrow and profound love that we announce the passing of Corey, who left us on July 23, 2026. Born on September 22, 2001, in Los Angeles, California, Corey brought light and joy into this world from the moment he arrived. He was the beloved son of Sonia Robinson and the late Wendell C. Jones Jr.
Corey was a spirited soul, whose warmth and kindness touched everyone he met. His radiant smile and gentle nature had the power to light up even the darkest days, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of family and friends. He possessed the rare quality of having both an old soul and a new one, bringing wisdom and a fresh perspective to all who knew him.
Corey's journey through life was enriched by his love for football, a passion he discovered early on. His dedication and talent shone brightly as he played for the Nations Titans and Cathedral High School, where he was not just a player but an inspiration to his teammates and coaches alike.
Educated at 42nd Street Elementary, Audubon Middle School, and Cathedral High School, Corey was a diligent student who embraced learning with enthusiasm. His commitment to his education was matched by his dedication to his work as a security guard in a private capacity, where he brought dependability and integrity to his role.
Corey is deeply missed by his loving family, including his cherished little brother, D’Anthony L. Richards; his uncle, James Perkins; his aunt, Crystal London; and his cousin, Tahj Thomas, along with many more relatives who adored him. He joins in eternal peace his great-grandparents, James J.D. Mobley, Mary Anner Mobley; “Granny” Zonia Evette Perkins; “Nana” Mollie Mae Williams; and his father, Wendell C. Jones Jr.
In honor of Corey's generous spirit, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice, celebrating the compassion and love that Corey shared with the world.
A message from Corey's family resonates with the love they hold for him: "I'm with you always, never say goodbye—it's talk to you later, Boom Boom."
Corey's light will never dim, and his memory will be cherished forever by all who were blessed to know him.
