Cora L. Vanerson, a beloved mother, grandmother and sister, a cherished friend to many she passed away peacefully on September 23, 2026, at the age of 64. Born on September 2, 1962, in Tylertown, Mississippi, Cora was the daughter of the late O. C. Thornton and Annie Beckum. She grew up surrounded by a loving family and carried that love with her throughout her life, touching the hearts of all who knew her. Cora's life was a testament to the power of love, resilience, and compassion. She was predeceased by her parents and siblings Larry, Nellie Jean and Gregory Thornton. Cora was known for her unwavering dedication to her family and her friends, always ready with a helping hand and a warm smile. A devoted mother, Cora is survived by her son, Donell Thornton, and his wife, Tanisha, who reside in Menasha, Wisconsin. Her legacy continues through her large and loving family, including 15 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren, who brought immense joy to her life. Cora is also survived by her siblings, each of whom had a unique bond with her: Willie (Madeline) Thornton of Milwaukee, Linda (David) Dantzler of Hattiesburg, Allen, Curly, and Otis Thornton, all of Milwaukee. Shirley Thornton and Angela Beckum, both of Menasha, Wisconsin, also survive her, each carrying forward the shared memories and love of their sister. Cora's life was a beautiful blend of Southern warmth and Midwestern strength. She had an uncanny ability to make everyone feel like family, offering kindness to all who crossed her path. Her faith was an integral part of her life, and she was an active member of her church community. Cora's generous spirit and infectious laughter will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and the many lives she touched. As we celebrate Cora's life, we hold dear the memories of her kindness, her unwavering strength, and her boundless love for her family.
