August 21, 1960 — March 18, 2026

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Constance Pachan, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend, on March 18, 2026, at the age of 71. Constance departed this world peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and laughter. Born on August 21, 1954, in the vibrant city of Blantyre, Malawi, Constance's journey through life was marked by her unwavering compassion and boundless generosity. Constance was the cherished daughter of the late Felix and Roberta Pachan. Her childhood was enriched by the warmth of her family, and the values instilled in her by her parents remained with her throughout her life. She was predeceased by her dear brothers, Lloyd and Leon Pachan, and now joins them in eternal rest. In 1960, her family relocated to Chicago, Illinois, where Constance would attend Haines Elementary and later, Wendell Phillips High School. It was here that she began to cultivate the qualities that would define her life—selflessness, empathy, and an unyielding work ethic. Constance's career was an extension of these traits, as she devoted herself to caring for others, both by cleaning homes and serving as a personal care attendant. Her dedication to her work was a testament to her nurturing spirit and desire to help those around her. Constance's love for baking was legendary. Her kitchen was a place where memories were made, especially with her small grandchildren gathered around the counter, eager to learn her secrets to the perfect pie or batch of cookies. Summers spent in Mississippi as a child instilled in her a love for fishing, particularly for catfish, a pastime she fondly recalled and shared with her family. Her laughter was infectious, her smile radiant, and her ability to make everyone feel welcome was unparalleled. Constance never met a stranger, and her gift for uplifting others made her a beacon of joy and positivity. Her presence could light up any room, and her genuine interest in others' well-being was a hallmark of her character. Constance leaves behind her devoted husband of 28 years, Darrell Pachan, who was her partner in all things. Together, they built a life filled with love and laughter, raising three wonderful children: Alicia Gibbs, Sherita Reed, and Darrell (DJ) Pachan. Her family was her pride and joy, a source of strength and happiness that she cherished deeply. Constance is also survived by her beloved nephews, Trenton, Latrell, and Tyrone, as well as her dear nieces, Lyric, Anita, Keshia, and Jawana, who each held a special place in her heart. While Constance's physical presence will be deeply missed, the memories she created with her family and friends will forever be cherished. Her legacy of love and laughter will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing her. In accordance with her family's wishes, a private funeral ceremony will be held to celebrate Constance's life. Though the gathering will be intimate, the impact of her life was far-reaching and will be remembered by all whose lives she touched. As we say our farewells, we hold Constance forever in our hearts. Her spirit lives on in the laughter of her grandchildren, the warmth of her family's love, and the countless lives she touched with her kindness and compassion. May she rest in peace, embraced by the memories of a life well-lived and a love everlasting.
