February 28, 1965 — September 9, 2026

Constance Kiana Ayala, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and educator, peacefully passed away on September 9, 2026, in the comforting embrace of her family, after a courageous battle with lung cancer. Born on February 28, 1965, in Rapid City, South Dakota, Constance lived a life full of love, laughter, and unwavering dedication to those she cherished. Constance was the loving daughter of the late Zona Lookstwice and is now reunited with her mother and her brothers, Carlos Curly, Michael Curly, Joey Ayala, Jose Ayala Jr, as well as her four great-grandchildren who predeceased her. Her legacy continues through her devoted husband, Sterling Ayala, whom she married on July 2, 1985. Together, they shared 31 blessed years, raising three beautiful children: Willis Ayala, Vashaity Ayala, and Christopher Ayala. Constance was also the proud grandmother of seven, including Kiana Ayala, Chace Ayala, and Trey Ayala, each of whom brought immense joy to her life. Education was a cornerstone of Constance’s life. She graduated from the University of Minnesota with a teaching degree, dedicating two decades to nurturing young minds at Jackson Elementary School in St. Paul, MN. Her passion for teaching was eclipsed only by her love for her family, especially her grandchildren, with whom she spent countless cherished moments. Constance was a proud member of the Oglala Sioux Nation, embodying the spirit and strength of her heritage. Her kindness extended to all creatures, great and small, and she was known for her warmth, humor, and the ability to make everyone feel at home in her presence. Her family will hold a private ceremony to honor her memory, ensuring that her spirit is celebrated with the dignity and love she so richly deserved. As a testament to Constance’s generosity and her dedication to education, the family kindly suggests donations be made in her honor to support educational initiatives or animal welfare causes. Constance will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her. Her laughter, kindness, and the love she shared with her family and friends will be remembered always. "Forever in our hearts," her family lovingly shares, as they celebrate the life of a remarkable woman who touched the lives of many.
