It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Constance "Connie" Vaught, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, who departed this world peacefully at her home on October 9, 2026. Born on June 5, 1949, in Saint Louis, Missouri, Connie was the cherished daughter of Cathleen and Al Olish.
Connie's life was a testament to love, dedication, and service. She was a devoted wife to her late husband, Terry, with whom she shared a beautiful marriage beginning on February 5, 1972. Together, they created a loving family and raised six children: Fred, Danial, Michelle, Andrew, James, and Christopher. Connie's pride in her family extended to her five grandchildren: Astrid, Samuel, Lillian, Joseph, and Nicole, who brought endless joy and happiness to her life.
An accomplished scholar, Connie pursued her passion for education, earning Master’s degrees in Theater Art, Language Arts, and Education. Her career as an educator was marked by her relentless dedication to her students and her incredible ability to inspire and nurture young minds. Connie's love for the arts was evident in her avid attendance at the Muny and other theater productions, where she found great joy and inspiration.
Throughout her life, Connie embraced her role as a military wife with grace and compassion, assisting soldiers in achieving their educational goals while on deployment. Her unwavering patriotism and commitment to her community were hallmarks of her character.
In her leisure, Connie was a talented crocheter, creating countless afghans that brought warmth and comfort to those around her. She was also a loving "grandma" to her fur grandbabies: Gunner, Aero, Eve, Mugsy, and Maya, whom she adored babysitting.
Connie was predeceased by her parents, Cathleen and Al, her brother Patrick, her sister Mariann, and her beloved husband, Terry. She leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion, survived by her children, grandchildren, and countless lives she touched with her kindness and generosity.
