Constance Anne Davis
July 11, 1950 — May 23, 2026
With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Constance Anne Davis, affectionately known as Connie, on May 23, 2026. Born on July 11, 1950, in Portsmouth, Virginia, Connie peacefully departed this world at Ascension Sacred Heart Hospital, surrounded by the enduring love of her family.
Connie was the cherished daughter of Elmo Earl and Audrey Elizabeth Gower, who predeceased her, along with her beloved sister, Sheila Ryder. Her spirit and warmth live on through her devoted husband of 53 years, Herman Myles Davis II, lovingly called "Dave," and their four children: Herman "Davy" Myles Davis III, John Michael Davis and his wife Stephanie McIntyre Davis, Patricia Brooke Ellis, and Jennifer Lynn Thomas and her husband John "TJ" Paul Thomas. Connie is also survived by her siblings Patricia Miller, Deborah McDuff, and Elmo "Puggy" Gower.
A pillar of strength and affection, Connie was the heart of her family. Her marriage with Dave was a testament to enduring love. They married on October 27, 1972, in Decatur, Georgia, just six months after their fateful meeting. Together, they built a life filled with laughter, challenges, and an unbreakable bond that served as an example of love's resilience.
Connie's greatest accomplishment was her family. Her children and grandchildren were her pride and joy, and she devoted her life to nurturing them with boundless love and care. Her grandchildren—Samantha Erin Davis, Kevin Michael Thomas, Toby Jacob Thomas, Dylan Myles Davis, Lana Ann Marie Thomas, Caleb Logan Ellis, Ethan Troy Davis, Hailey Brees Ellis, Joshua Chase Davis, and Brian Clark Thomas—brought her immeasurable happiness.
Though her early career was in insurance, Connie's true calling was motherhood, a role she embraced with open arms and profound dedication. Known as "Nana" to her grandchildren, Connie's warmth and kindness made her the cornerstone of her family.
Connie found joy in the simple pleasures of life—spending hours wandering through retail stores, savoring each moment despite knowing it drove her family a bit crazy. Before arthritis made it difficult, she loved sewing, crafting pieces that were imbued with love and care.
Her heart was a sanctuary, offering warmth and solace to all who knew her. She loved unconditionally, with a strength that never wavered. Connie’s message to her family is clear: though she may be gone, her love remains steadfast, guiding them from beyond.
The family will hold a private ceremony to honor Connie's life. They extend their deepest gratitude to Vitas Hospice at Home for their extraordinary kindness and compassionate care.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you cherish your loved ones and hold dear the moments you share. Though Connie has departed, her spirit and love will forever be a guiding light for her family and all who were fortunate to know her.
Connie Anne Davis—wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend—will be deeply missed, but her legacy of love and kindness will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
