May 3, 2007 — August 14, 2026

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Connor Hills, who left us far too soon on April 14, 2026. Born on May 3, 2007, in Chicago, Illinois, Connor was a cherished son to Ava Simmons and Edward Hills, and a beloved brother to Thomas Hills, Edward Hills, Junior, and Melissa Simmons. His life, though brief, was filled with love, achievement, and an enduring curiosity that touched everyone he encountered. From an early age, Connor exhibited a remarkable intellect and a passion for learning. He excelled academically at Ashley Ridge Elementary School and continued his exemplary performance at Ashley Ridge High School in Somerville, South Carolina, graduating with honors in science and mathematics. His academic journey continued at Illinois State University, where he pursued a promising career as an apprentice in the science department, constantly driven by a desire to explore and understand the world around him. Connor's creativity was boundless, finding expression through his love of drawing. Art became a powerful medium for him to convey his imagination and provide a unique perspective on life. His artwork remains a testament to his vibrant spirit and the joy he found in sharing his visions with others. Though Connor's time with us was short, his impact was profound. He was known for his kindness, determination, and an insatiable curiosity that inspired those who knew him. His gentle spirit and generous heart left an indelible mark on his family, friends, and community. Connor is survived by his loving parents, Ava Simmons and Edward Hills; his siblings, Thomas Hills, Edward Hills, Junior, and Melissa Simmons; and his grandparents, Terence Hills (Jenelle), Deidre Simmons, Glover, and Beverly Wells. He also leaves behind numerous relatives, friends, church members, and community members who will forever cherish his memory. Do Not Stand at My Grave and Weep

Do not stand at my grave and weep, I am not there; I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow, I am the diamond glints on snow, I am the sun on ripened grain, I am the gentle autumn rain. When you awaken in the morning's hush I am the swift uplifting rush of quiet birds in circled flight. I am the soft stars that shine at night. Do not stand at my grave and cry, I am not there; I did not die.
