In loving memory of Conchita B. Gerald, who graced this world on January 12, 1954, in the bustling city of New York. She peacefully departed on August 25, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, resilience, and boundless love. Conchita was the cherished daughter of Maria and John Flores, who predeceased her in a tragic car accident in 1915. Her life was a vibrant tapestry woven with love, laughter, and the joy of family. She found her soulmate in Bob Smith, with whom she shared eight beautiful years of marriage. Together, they raised three children, creating a home filled with affection and shared dreams. Educated at Dunbar High School, Conchita graduated in 1970 and went on to earn a Bachelor's degree in Engineering from Morgan State University in 1975. Her academic journey did not stop there; she later completed an MBA from City College, showcasing her dedication to lifelong learning. Conchita built a remarkable career as a mechanical engineer at General Motors, where she worked for 20 years before retiring in 2005. She was revered not only for her technical expertise but also for her role as a mentor to young women, inspiring many with her leadership and kindness. A woman of deep faith, Conchita was an active member of her Baptist church community for over a decade. Her vibrant spirit was evident in her love for dancing, sewing, and swimming, as well as her ability to light up a room with her quick smile. She leaves behind a loving family, including eight grandchildren: Payton, Devin, Cameron, Caos, Denae, Kisha, Tim, and Joe Gerald, along with two great-grandchildren who will carry forward her legacy of love and joy. In honor of Conchita's life and her indomitable spirit, the family suggests that donations be made to the March of Dimes Foundation, an organization she held dear. The family also extends their heartfelt gratitude to the hospital staff and doctors who provided care and comfort during her final days. A private funeral ceremony will be held to celebrate Conchita's life, where her family and close friends will gather to remember the laughter, love, and light she brought into their lives. Her memory will forever be cherished in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her.
