Comfort McGill Kromah, a cherished mother, grandmother, and friend, was born on September 10, 1955, in the vibrant city of Ganta, Liberia. She passed away peacefully on July 29, 2026, at the Joe Nursing Home, after a long and courageous journey through illness, surrounded by love and care.
Comfort was the beloved daughter of the late Joseph and Kebeh Gbelee McGill, whose values and teachings she carried with her throughout her life. She was predeceased by her devoted husband, Layee Kromah, whose memory she held dear after he tragically passed away during the civil war in Liberia. Their love story began when Comfort was just sixteen, and their union was blessed with four sons, who were the light of her life.
Comfort's educational journey began at the United Methodist Mission in Ganta City, where she laid the foundation for a life filled with compassion and service. Her career as a Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) spanned many years, during which she offered care and kindness to countless individuals in Silver Spring, Maryland, and Worcester, Massachusetts. Her dedication to her work was a testament to her nurturing spirit and her unwavering commitment to helping others.
A woman of remarkable warmth and generosity, Comfort's love for her family was unparalleled. She leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion through her four sons and five grandchildren. Her family was her pride and joy, and she cherished every moment spent with them. Comfort's gentle spirit extended beyond her family, touching the lives of many who were fortunate to know her. Her kindness and compassion were a source of comfort to all who crossed her path.
Comfort is survived by her sons, who will carry forward her legacy, and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who will forever feel her loving presence in their lives. Her memory will be treasured by all who loved her.
A funeral service to honor and celebrate Comfort's life will be held on August 14, 2026, at Joe Funeral Home, located at 101 Main St., Worcester, MA. The service will begin at 10:25 a.m., providing an opportunity for family and friends to gather in remembrance of her beautiful life.
The family expresses their heartfelt gratitude to the staff and caregivers of the Nursing Facility, who provided exceptional care and support during Comfort's final days. They also extend their deepest thanks to friends and acquaintances who have been part of this journey, offering love and support when it was needed most.
