In Loving Memory
Colten Cory Salo
November 15, 1997 — January 27, 2026
It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Colten Cory Salo, who left this world too soon on January 27, 2026, at the tender age of 28. Born on November 15, 1997, in the close-knit community of Hibbing, Minnesota, Colten was a beacon of light whose warmth touched everyone he encountered.
Colten was the cherished son of Candi Bryce Salo and the late Bryce Salo, and the loving stepson of Larry Wiggins. From his earliest days, Colten's infectious smile and generous spirit left an indelible mark on those around him. He was the kind of person who made friends effortlessly, his genuine kindness drawing people in and creating lifelong bonds.
Throughout his life, Colten found joy in the simple pleasures and shared these moments with his family and friends. He was an adventurous soul who loved exploring the great outdoors of Minnesota, finding peace and inspiration in nature’s beauty. His laughter was a melody that could lift the spirits of those around him, and his thoughtful nature brought comfort to many.
Colten is survived by his devoted mother, Candi Bryce, and his loving stepfather, Larry Wiggins, who stood by him through every joy and challenge. He is also survived by his siblings, Angela Gerlach, Jonathan Wiggins, and Christopher Wiggins, who will forever cherish the memories they shared with their brother. Colten's legacy lives on in his numerous nieces and nephews, and a great-nephew who will grow up hearing stories of his kindness and love.
He is preceded in death by both sets of his grandparents and a brother, all of whom he dearly loved and whose memories he held close. Though his time with us was brief, Colten's impact was profound, a testament to a life lived with love and purpose.
A celebration of Colten’s life will be held on May 23, 2026, at 1:00 PM at the Pavilion at Bennett Park in Hibbing, Minnesota. This gathering will be a potluck, a fitting tribute to Colten’s love for community and sharing meals with loved ones. The family invites all who knew Colten to join in honoring his memory, sharing stories, laughter, and tears as we remember the beautiful life he led.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that those who wish to honor Colten’s memory consider a donation to a local charity of their choice, reflecting Colten's spirit of giving and compassion.
Colten Cory Salo, though your journey on this earth has ended, your spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved you. You will be missed beyond measure, but your legacy of love and kindness will continue to inspire all who were fortunate to know you. Rest in peace, dear Colten.
