With heavy hearts and profound respect, we announce the passing of our beloved Clyde Ward, who departed this life on May 20, 2026, at the age of 93. Clyde passed away peacefully in his sleep, after a courageous battle, at the VA hospital, surrounded by the love and care of his family.
Clyde was born on April 19, 1933, in the charming town of Clear Spring, Maryland. From his earliest days, he embodied the values of hard work, dedication, and loyalty, which he carried throughout his life. As a young man, Clyde bravely answered the call to serve his country, enlisting in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. His service was marked by honor, courage, and an unwavering commitment to his fellow soldiers.
After his military service, Clyde found his calling as a Heavy Truck Mechanic, dedicating 40 years of his life to Shenandoah’s Pride. His exceptional skill and tireless work ethic were evident, and he retired in 1998, leaving behind a legacy of excellence and craftsmanship that inspired all who worked with him.
Clyde was a proud and active member of the Clopper-Michael Post #10 American Legion in Boonsboro, MD, where he shared camaraderie and kinship with fellow veterans. His contributions to the community and his unwavering support for his fellow servicemen and women will long be remembered.
Clyde was predeceased by his loving wife, affectionately known as "Big Grandma," his cherished parents, and his dear siblings. The love they shared continues to illuminate the hearts of those left behind.
He is survived by his devoted children and their spouses: Dink, Mike, Tim, Jason, Laura, Mary-Jane, Sharon, Jodi, Chrissy, and Heather. Clyde's life was further enriched by the blessing of 30 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren, each a testament to the enduring love and legacy he leaves behind.
Clyde's life was marked by a quiet strength and a deep love for his family. His legacy will forever be carried forward by those who knew him best and loved him most. He was a pillar of strength, a beacon of wisdom, and a gentle soul whose kindness and generosity touched many lives.
In accordance with his wishes, a private funeral service will be held to honor Clyde's life and legacy. As we remember and celebrate the life of this remarkable man, we hold in our hearts the joy of having known and loved him.
The family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to the dedicated staff at the VA hospital for their compassionate care and support during Clyde's final days.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a veterans' charity of your choice, to honor Clyde’s lifelong commitment to serving others. May Clyde Ward rest in eternal peace, his spirit forever cherished in the hearts of those who loved him.
