He shared a close bond with his late sister, Louise Grant, and predeceased wife, Nancy Elaine Grant, with whom he shared 38 beautiful years of marriage. A proud veteran, Clyde served in the U.S. Navy for an impressive 23 years, retiring in 1978. His commitment to his country was matched only by his dedication to his craft. During his service, 17 of those years were spent navigating the depths of the ocean aboard various submarines. It was here that he discovered his passion for the culinary arts, receiving professional training to become a Chef. Clyde often spoke fondly of his experiences crossing the equator and his time spent in the icy expanse of Antarctica. After retiring from the Navy, Clyde transitioned his culinary skills into a successful career as a professional Chef. For 19 years, he led a group of volunteers to cook for Everett High School marching band exertions, a testament to his generous spirit and love for community. He also owned and operated a service-based catering company, bringing joy to countless celebrations with his delicious creations. Beyond his professional life, Clyde was a man of many talents and interests. Music was a cornerstone of his life, and he delighted in playing the bugle, harmonica, and drums. He was especially fond of sharing cultural instruments, including the handbone and "bones," with anyone eager to learn. His humor and common phrases were legendary, and he was always quick with a joke or a comforting word, offering a fatherly presence to those in need. Clyde's commitment to service extended beyond his military career. He was a proud member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), where he found camaraderie and purpose among fellow veterans. A service to honor and celebrate Clyde's remarkable life will be held on July 15, 2026, at 1:00 PM at the Evergreen Funeral Home and Cemetery, located at 4504 Broadway, Everett, WA 98203. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff at Mountain View and Providence, with special thanks to his dedicated hospice nurse who was there until the end.
