In Loving Memory

Clifford Roy Maddox
December 24, 1952 — March 27, 2026
It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Clifford Roy Maddox, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, who left this world on March 27, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on December 24, 1952, in Casa Grande, Arizona, Cliff brought warmth and joy to all who knew him.
Cliff was a man defined by his steadfast dedication to family and community. He leaves behind his devoted wife, Lana Renee Maddox, with whom he shared an extraordinary 55-year journey. Their love story began in Stockton, California, in 1969, when they were just 16 and 15 years old. United in marriage in May of 1970, they welcomed their first child, Clifford Roy Maddox Jr., in September of the same year, followed by their second child in 1974.
A proud alumnus of East Union High School in Manteca, California, Cliff pursued a career that reflected his industrious spirit and unwavering commitment. He began his professional life as a mechanic at Ford Motor Company, then honed his skills in welding, before finding his true calling as a truck driver—a career he cherished and excelled in for 35 years. Cliff drove up until August 2025, embodying a work ethic that inspired those around him.
Cliff's passion for the open road was matched only by his love for nature and family. He cherished every moment spent fishing, camping, and gardening, finding peace and joy in the simple pleasures of life. Whether sitting outside sharing stories with friends and family or tending to his garden, Cliff's presence was a source of comfort and wisdom.
He was predeceased by his son, Michael Gene Maddox, granddaughter Crystal Lynn Maddox, brother Robert Maddox, and sister-in-law Doris Wickey. His memory will forever live on in the hearts of those he leaves behind: his son Clifford Jr. and daughter-in-law Phylis, grandsons Johnny Maddox and his wife Amanda, Derrick Maddox and his fiancé Peter Canzani, and Anthony Tompkins. His great-grandchildren, Hayden Caulder, Daniel, Scarlett Maddox, and Melody Tompkins, will grow up with stories of their great-grandfather's kindness and love. Cliff's extended family, including Mary Kane, Racheal and Scott Haygood, and Glenda and David Pometta, will continue to honor his legacy.
Cliff was a man of deep compassion and unwavering support, always ready to lend a helping hand. He believed in the strength of family ties and instilled these values in his children, creating a bond that will endure through generations. His kindness, generosity, and unwavering support will remain a guiding light for all who knew him.
As we bid farewell to a truly remarkable man, we find solace in the memories we shared and the lessons he imparted. Cliff will be deeply missed and loved until we meet again. His family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all who have offered their support during this difficult time.
In Cliff's spirit of unity and love, we invite those who knew him to share in a celebration of his life, where stories will be told and memories cherished. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor Cliff by spending time with loved ones, as he so often did, embracing the precious gift of family.
"Cliff, we all love you. Until we meet again."
