Obituary for Clifford Maxwell Rutledge
January 12, 1962 – April 28, 2026
With profound sadness, we announce the unexpected passing of Clifford Maxwell Rutledge, on April 28, 2026. Born in the heart of Minnesota on January 12, 1962, Cliff was a man whose life was a vibrant testament to love, dedication, and friendship. He leaves behind a legacy that will forever be cherished by those who had the privilege to know him.
Cliff was the beloved son of Edward and Alice Rutledge, both of whom predeceased him, along with his cherished son, Kyle Frohm. Despite these losses, Cliff's spirit and warmth never wavered, and his heart continued to expand with love for his surviving family. He is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife, Carla Jean Frohm Rutledge, with whom he celebrated 37 wonderful years of marriage since their wedding on September 2, 1989. Their love story is one marked by unwavering support and shared joys.
Together, Cliff and Carla raised their son Dustin, who, along with his wife Micah, gave Cliff the joy of becoming a grandfather to three treasured grandchildren: Ryker, Riley Marie, and Slater. Cliff's pride in his family was boundless, and his grandchildren were the light of his life. Cliff found immense joy in attending their baseball games and spending precious time with them, always eager to share his passions and wisdom.
Professionally, Cliff dedicated 31 years of his life as a SCWI, where his diligence and expertise were matched only by his kindness and willingness to lend a helping hand. His colleagues remember him as a friend to everyone he met, a testament to his generous and approachable nature.
Outside of work, Cliff's life was rich with hobbies that filled his days with happiness. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, passions that connected him to the natural beauty of his beloved Minnesota. A football enthusiast, Cliff could often be found cheering on his favorite teams with the same enthusiasm he brought to every aspect of his life. His prized 1968 Camaro was a testament to his love for classic cars, and he spent countless hours perfecting it, a reflection of his meticulous nature and appreciation for craftsmanship.
To know Cliff was to love him. His warmth and kindness were as much a part of him as his love for a good meal with his sons or a quiet evening spent talking with friends. Cliff's legacy is one of love, laughter, and a spirit that touched everyone who crossed his path.
In accordance with his family's wishes, a private ceremony will be held to honor Cliff's life. Though his presence will be deeply missed, his spirit will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Cliff’s memory to a charity of your choice, celebrating the generous and compassionate life he led.
