It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Clayton Schexnayder, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, who left this world peacefully on March 30, 2026, at the age of 65. Clayton's journey came to an end after a brave battle with kidney disease and heart problems, surrounded by the love and warmth of his cherished family.
Born on September 4, 1960, Clayton was a beacon of joy and warmth from the very beginning. He grew up in a loving family and was the cherished son of Irene Schexnayder Robinson, who predeceased him. Clayton was also predeceased by his dear brother, Jr Garcia; his mother and father-in-law, Adam and Delta Thibodeaux; his uncles, Clifton and Carrol Schexnayder; his aunts, Rehna Garcia and Helen Schexnayder; and his cousin, Elizabeth Broussard.
Clayton is survived by his devoted wife of 42 years, Christine Schexnayder, who was his steadfast partner in the journey of life. Together, they built a family filled with love and laughter, raising four wonderful children: Justin (Julia) Schexnayder, Jacob (Zee) Schexnayder, Jamie (Cortland) Williams, and Meggan (Teddy) Schexnayder. His legacy lives on through his six grandchildren, Janyia Schexnayder (Tabius Levy), Chadrick Hamilton (Molly Rogan), Ahnee Hamilton, Dominick Schexnayder, Daylon Schexnayder, and Trisslynn Schexnayder, as well as his three great-grandchildren, Iyalahh Hamilton, Thyri Levy, and Elena Schexnayder, expected in July 2026. Clayton's family was his greatest pride, and he treasured every moment with them.
Clayton shared a close bond with his brothers, Art Garcia, Darren Schexnayder, and Butch Schexnayder. Together, they created countless memories filled with laughter and camaraderie. Clayton's family, including his loyal dog, Buddy, brought immense joy to his life.
A proud graduate of McCook High School in McCook, Nebraska, Clayton furthered his education at Penn State University. He dedicated his professional life to serving as a security guard, where his commitment and integrity left a lasting impact on his colleagues and community.
Clayton was a man of simple joys, known for his infectious laughter and unconditional love for everyone he encountered. He had a passion for riding his e-bike, which brought him peace and adventure, allowing him to explore the beauty of the world around him.
Clayton's life was a testament to love, kindness, and resilience. His family shares a special message: "Clayton will be missed by everyone." His warm spirit and generous heart will be forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
As we gather to celebrate Clayton's life, we find comfort in the memories we hold dear and the legacy of love he leaves behind. May his soul find eternal peace, and may his memory serve as a guiding light for all who knew him.
