Clayson Bates, a beloved son, father, veteran, and steadfast friend, peacefully departed this world on August 27, 2026, at the age of 36. Born on March 13, 1990, in Lubbock, Texas, Clayson grew up surrounded by the warmth and love of his family, guided by the steady presence of his father, Francisco Gonzales Jr. Clayson's journey was marked by dedication and service, beginning with his graduation from Big Spring High School in 2008. Shortly thereafter, he answered the call to serve his country, enlisting in the United States Army. From 2008 to 2012, Clayson served with distinction, completing two deployments and receiving several commendations for his bravery and commitment. His time in the military was a testament to his unwavering sense of duty and patriotism. After his honorable military service, Clayson devoted 14 years to the field of corrections and security, where he was known for his integrity, resilience, and compassionate leadership. His colleagues remember him as a pillar of strength and a source of encouragement, always ready to lend a helping hand. Above all, Clayson's greatest joy in life was his family. He leaves behind two cherished children, Zariah Leigh Renee Bates and Zion Henley Bates, who were the light of his life. Clayson's love for them was boundless, and he took immense pride in being their father, guiding and nurturing them with a gentle spirit and a loving heart. A service to honor and celebrate the life of Clayson Bates will be held on September 1, 2026, at 2:00 PM at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, located at 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, TX 75211. Family, friends, and all who were touched by Clayson's kindness are invited to gather in remembrance of a life well-lived.
