Born on January 6, 1963, in Atlanta, Georgia, Claudia departed this world on July 12, 2026, at her home, surrounded by loved ones. The cherished daughter of John and Mary Smith, Claudia grew up in a nurturing environment that instilled in her the values of love, compassion, and resilience. Her early years were spent in Atlanta, where she was blessed with a strong family foundation that continued to shape her life’s journey. In 1973, Claudia married Aaron Abbey. Though the marriage ended in divorce, Claudia found her greatest joy in the birth of her daughter, Tamiesha, who became her world. Claudia was also a proud grandmother to five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, each of whom brought immense joy to her life. Claudia's professional journey was marked by a dedicated career at the Environmental Protection Agency, where she served for 37 years. Her commitment to excellence was recognized through numerous awards and accolades, reflecting her unwavering dedication to environmental stewardship. Upon her retirement, her colleagues and friends celebrated not just her professional achievements but also her warmth and generosity. A deeply spiritual woman, Claudia reinstated her membership at the First Baptist Church of Highland Park in Lawrenceville, Virginia. Her faith was a guiding light, providing comfort and strength throughout her life. Claudia was known for her compassionate spirit and her ability to bring people together. She was a devoted mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend who touched the lives of everyone she met. Claudia had a zest for life that was evident in her love for traveling, bowling, and shopping. She treasured moments spent with family and friends, creating memories that will be forever cherished by those she leaves behind. Her sister Jackie, along with brothers Vincent and Allen, nieces, nephews, and godchildren Andre, Allen, and Demitrius will miss her dearly. Claudia's mother, Betty, and father, Claude, are left to mourn the loss of an extraordinary daughter. A private funeral ceremony will be held to honor Claudia’s remarkable life and legacy. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Claudia’s memory to a charity of your choice, reflecting her spirit of giving and care for the world around her. As we bid farewell to Claudia Elaine Huntley, we celebrate a life well-lived and a legacy of love that will endure in the hearts of all who knew her.
