In Loving Memory

Claudette Ann Nolte Woodruff
August 17, 1931 — June 16, 2026
Claudette Ann Nolte Woodruff, a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, departed this world on June 16, 2026, at the age of 94. She was born on August 17, 1931, in the small town of Seneca, Kansas, to Bertha Ida Strathman and Joseph John Nolte. From the very beginning, Claudette was surrounded by a large and loving family, with many aunts, uncles, and cousins who often gathered to create cherished memories filled with laughter and love.
Claudette grew up in a small-town environment that emphasized community and faith. She attended the local Catholic school from kindergarten through twelfth grade, a foundation that instilled in her strong moral values and a deep sense of community service. Her sociable nature and infectious smile left a lasting impression on everyone she met.
When Claudette was 20, she eloped with the love of her life, James Edward Woodruff. Together, they embarked on a beautiful journey that spanned 46 years until James's passing in January 1998. Together they had three sons: James Craig, Timothy Lance, and Keith Forrest. The family made their home in Kirkwood, Missouri, where Claudette devoted herself to raising her boys with love, wisdom, and a sense of humor!
In addition to being a dedicated homemaker, Claudette also worked as a secretary, both for the Kirkwood School District and for her husband's insurance company. Her ability to balance professional duties with her family responsibilities was a testament to her extraordinary strength and commitment.
Claudette's life was enriched by her involvement in the Catholic church, where she was an active participant and cherished member of various parish groups. Her home was often the center of joyful gatherings, where she hosted arts and crafts sessions and lively card games, always bringing people together with her warm & welcoming spirit.
Known for her playful sense of humor, Claudette delighted in teasing her loved ones and donning goofy outfits and crazy hats, spreading joy wherever she went. Her genuine concern for others and her ability to make everyone feel special were defining qualities that endeared her to all.
Her family was her pride and joy, and she often expressed her gratitude for the enduring bonds she shared with her sons. Claudette was a devoted grandmother to seven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren, who were the light of her life. She cherished every moment spent with them, indulging (spoiling!) them with love and affection.
In her later years, Claudette found a welcoming home at Buckner Westminster Place in Longview, Texas, where she lived for five years. The compassionate staff became an extension of her family, providing care and kindness that she deeply appreciated. Her final days were spent at Hawkins Creek, where she received tender care from the "Bespoke" Hospice team.
Claudette's legacy of love, laughter, and faith will forever remain in the hearts of her surviving family and friends. She leaves behind a lasting impact and a reminder that a life filled with love is a life well-lived.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to all those who supported and cared for Claudette during her final years. A celebration of her remarkable life will be held at a later date, where we will gather to honor her memory and share the stories that defined her beautiful journey. May Claudette rest in eternal peace, reunited with her beloved James and the family members who preceded her. She will be missed and fondly remembered.
