Claude Emery Berghorn

We announce the peaceful passing of Claude Emery Berghorn on April 19, 2026, at his home in Lakewood, Co. Born on August 4, 1947, in Libertyville, Illinois, Claude was a cherished son of the late Clara A. (Graff) Berghorn and Emery W. Berghorn. He now reunites with his beloved parents in eternal peace. He graduated from Crystal Lakes High School in 1965.. His passion for geology led him to the Colorado School of Mines, where he earned both a Geological Engineering degree in 1971 and a Master of Science in Geology in 1973. With his education as a sturdy foundation, Claude embarked on a successful career as a petroleum and natural gas engineer for Sheppard/Souders & Associates, Petroleum Consultants, Sun Exploration, Texas Exploration dedicating his talents to locating natural resources in the vast landscapes of Wyoming. He retired from Rose Exploration, leaving behind a legacy of dedication and innovation that his colleagues and friends, including Bob and Rose Koskey, remember fondly. Claude's life was enriched by interests that reflected his diverse passions. An avid collector, he amassed a remarkable trove of WWI and WWII memorabilia, with a particular focus on the 9th Infantry, where his father served honorably. His love for history extended to baseball, as he cherished an impressive collection of baseball mitts and balls. A lifelong admirer of Bridget Bardot, he preserved her legacy through pictures and books. Claude's fascination with classic cars was evident in his collection of 1957 Chevrolet memorabilia. A avid reader and lover of 1970s folk music, Claude found solace and joy in the pages of books and the melodies that spoke to his soul. Claude's kindness and generosity were the cornerstones of his character. He touched the lives of all who knew him, from his family, including cousins Marlene Anderson, Rosemary Kagel, and William Berghorn, to dear friends like Ed and Diane Rhodus, Stew Ellison, Morey Miceli, Gerry and Nancy Rhode, and Yuri Beckers. His genuine spirit and warm heart left a lasting impression that will be cherished forever. A celebration of Claude's life will be held on May 15, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at the Newcomer West Metro Chapel, located at 901 S Sheridan Blvd, Lakewood, CO 80226-followed by a reception at 11:00 a.m. with a graveside service at Golden Cemetery located at 755 Ulysses St, Golden, Co 80401 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to a charity of your choice in Claude's honor, reflecting his generous spirit and commitment to making the world a better place. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Claude's caregivers, whose compassionate care and dedication provided him with comfort and peace in his final days. Claude Emery Berghorn's legacy is one of love, kindness, and an unwavering pursuit of knowledge. Though he is dearly missed, his spirit lives on in the memories and hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him. .
