Clarence Junior Carpenter, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on April 23, 2026, at the age of 83. Born on July 16, 1942, in the quaint town of Philippi, nestled in the heart of Barbour County, West Virginia, Clarence was a beacon of love and strength to all who knew him. Clarence was the beloved son of Clarence and Bessie Carpenter, who predeceased him but left an indelible mark on his character. Raised with strong values and a deep sense of duty, Clarence carried these traits forward into every aspect of his life, leaving a legacy that will be cherished for generations. On March 10, 1967, Clarence married the love of his life, Leona Mae Jones. Their love story spanned an incredible 59 years, marked by unwavering devotion and countless cherished memories. Together, they built a family filled with love, laughter, and an unbreakable bond. Clarence's role as a husband was only rivaled by his dedication to being a father. He was the best dad anyone could ask for, always offering wisdom, guidance, and an abundance of love to his children, Pam & Gary Rhodes, Tony & Michelle Carpenter, Randy & Missy Carpenter, Misty Carpenter, and Brodey & Bayne Carpenter. Clarence's heart was big enough to embrace not only his own children but also Jackie and Sheena, whom he loved like his own daughters. To Braysen and Maverik, Clarence was a father from day one, showering them with the same love and care that he gave to his own. His family was his pride and joy, and his legacy continues through his six grandchildren Wyatt & Bryan Rhodes, Olivia & Peyton Carpenter, Madison Helms and Rain Carpenter. and six great-grandchildren, who will forever carry forward the love and lessons he imparted. In addition to his family, Clarence's life was rich with friendships, laughter, and a deep appreciation for the simple joys. He was a member of Calvary Mission Church. He was a man who understood the value of a kind word, a helping hand, and the importance of community. His warmth and generosity touched the lives of everyone he met, leaving an enduring impression that will not soon be forgotten. While Clarence’s passing leaves an irreplaceable void, his family takes comfort in the memories they shared and the love that will forever bind them. Clarence will be remembered in a private funeral ceremony, with a special Celebration of Life to be held at a later date, where friends and family can gather to honor and remember the remarkable life he led. In this time of sorrow, the family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude for the outpouring of love and support they have received. They invite those who knew Clarence to join them in celebrating his remarkable journey, reflecting on the warmth and kindness he brought into the world.
