Clarence Gledhill

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Clarence Gledhill, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Clarence left this world peacefully on August 8, 2026, surrounded by the warmth and love of his family in his cherished home. He was 72 years old. Born on April 11, 1954, in Lansdowne, Pennsylvania, Clarence was the youngest of three children born to the late Paul E. and Katherine B. Gledhill (nee Plower). He was predeceased by his loving parents, his sister Maryanne Collins (nee Gledhill), and his brother Paul Gledhill Jr. Clarence's story is one of enduring love and devotion. His journey with his beloved wife, Dorothy, began in grade school. Their friendship blossomed into a deep love during their high school years at Bonner and Prendie, culminating in their marriage in 1973. For over five decades, they shared a steadfast commitment to one another, facing life's joys and challenges hand in hand. Together, they raised three wonderful children: Maryanne Marie Booth (nee Gledhill), Michael Joseph Gledhill, and Amelia Rose Mullen (nee Gledhill). Clarence was the epitome of a devoted father, working tirelessly to provide for his family. He would rise before dawn to labor at construction sites and refineries, only to rush home to be by his children's side for homework, school events, or coaching their sports teams. His presence on the sidelines was a constant source of encouragement and love. The role of "Grandpa" was one that Clarence cherished above all. His five grandchildren—Connor Patrick, James Thomas, Oliver William, Lily Marie, and Jessica Margaret—were his pride and joy. Clarence's heart was full when he was with them, and he treasured every moment he spent in their company. Clarence is survived by his devoted wife, Dorothy; his children, Maryanne Marie and her husband Christopher Booth, Michael Joseph and his wife Lauren, and Amelia Rose and her husband William Mullen; and his five grandchildren, who will carry on his legacy of love and kindness. A service to honor and celebrate Clarence's life will be held on August 15, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Laurence Church, located at 8245 West Chester Pike, Upper Darby Township, PA 19082. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice in Clarence's memory. Clarence's life was a testament to love, dedication, and the importance of family. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness and integrity that will be cherished by all who knew him. Though he may be gone, his spirit will live on in the hearts of those he touched.
