Clarence Eugene Hammock, a beloved father, grandfather, and brother, passed away peacefully on June 18, 2026, surrounded by family in West Tennessee Healthcare Dyersburg Hospital, Dyersburg, TN. Born on July 18, 1953, in St. Louis, MO, Clarence was a beacon of love and resilience, whose presence will be dearly missed but fondly remembered.
Clarence was preceded in death by his cherished wife, Rhonda Lee Hammock, whose memory he held close to his heart; his sister, Carol Ann Harrell; and his brother, Kenneth Leroy Hammock. He was the devoted son of the late Clarence Thomas and Dessie Marie (Brewer) Hammock, who instilled in him values of hard work and kindness.
Clarence's legacy continues through the lives of his children: daughters Tina Marie Williams of Halls, TN, Faith Michelle Hammock of Dyersburg, TN, and Jackie Woodard of Ripley, TN; and sons Steven Eugene Hammock of Oklahoma and Michael Thomas Hammock of Austin, TX. His family was his pride and joy, and he was a loving grandfather to 12 grandchildren and a doting great-grandfather to 10 great-grandchildren. Clarence's life was further enriched by his close relationships with his five sisters: Betty Sue Ballard of Ripley, TN, Johanna Carmack (Bret) of Halls, TN, Bonnie Sanders (Rod) of Ripley, TN, Monnie Whitney of Ripley, TN, and Dee Wright (Conley) of Humboldt, TN, as well as his brother, Tom Hammock of Chicago, IL.
Clarence spent over 41 years as a dedicated truck driver, a profession that not only fulfilled his sense of adventure but also supported his family. His commitment to his work was matched by his love for the open road and the freedom it symbolized.
Outside of his career, Clarence delighted in the simple joys of life. He was an avid fisherman, finding peace and solace along the water’s edge. His fondness for animals, particularly his dogs, was well-known, and their companionship brought him immense happiness. Clarence cherished moments spent with his family, often gathered around with a cup of coffee in hand, sharing stories and laughter.
A man of many interests, Clarence loved the thrill of riding motorcycles and big trucks, embracing the sense of freedom and excitement they provided. He also enjoyed the comfort of his recliner, where he would often joke that he let the TV watch him.
As we celebrate Clarence's life, we remember him as a man who lived with love, laughter, and an unwavering commitment to those he held dear. His warmth, wisdom, and kindness touched the lives of many, and his spirit will continue to inspire those who knew him.
In honoring Clarence's memory, his family invites those who knew and loved him to join in a celebration of his life. Details of the service will be shared in the coming days. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to a local animal shelter, reflecting Clarence's deep love for animals.
Clarence Eugene Hammock leaves behind a legacy of love and strength that will forever be cherished by his family and friends. He will be remembered with profound affection and gratitude for the beautiful life he led.
