It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved Cj Corbett on April 30, 2026, at the age of 77. Born on July 29, 1948, to John Wesley Corbett and Inez Corbett, Cj lived a life full of compassion, love, and dedication to his family and friends.
Cj's journey began in Cleveland, Ohio, where he met the love of his life, Lula Louise Dumas. Together, they built a beautiful family, blessed with two daughters, Jeanette 'Angel' Corbett and Joanne 'Trease' Corbett. Although preceded in death by his cherished daughter Angel, Cj's legacy of love continues through his surviving daughter Joanne and her husband Tim, his seven grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. Cj was a devoted brother, uncle, and cousin, whose bonds with his siblings, nieces, nephews, and extended family remained strong throughout his life. Two very special friends, Mary Jackson and Harley Garrett, were also an integral part of his journey, sharing countless memories and adventures.
A 1966 graduate who joined the Vista program in 1967, Cj was a man of purpose and determination. His professional life was marked by a commitment to community and service, traits he carried into every aspect of his personal life. Known for his generous spirit, Cj was always the first to lend a helping hand to those in need, a testament to his compassionate nature and unwavering dedication to his loved ones.
Cj had a passion for fishing, a hobby he enthusiastically shared with his family, creating treasured memories by the water's edge. His love for trains was another aspect of his life, and sparked joy in those who shared his interest.
Above all, Cj was a family man. His greatest joy came from the time spent with his loved ones, whether gathered around a dinner table or on a quiet fishing trip. His ability to bring people together and his enduring kindness left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
As we bid farewell to this remarkable man, we find comfort in the legacy of love and warmth he leaves behind. Cj's life was a testament to the power of family, friendship, and generosity, and his memory will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing him.
