Cindy E. Marinaro

Cindy E. Marinaro, a cherished mother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 22, 2026, in the loving embrace of her family. Born on August 2, 1953, in Hammond, Indiana, Cindy was the beloved daughter of Ella and Casimir Tyrka. Her journey through life was characterized by love, resilience, and a spirit that inspired all who knew her. Cindy's life was marked by her unwavering dedication to her family, her work, and her passions. She graduated from Hammond Tech in 1971, where she laid the foundation for a life filled with learning and growth. Her career at St. Catherine's Hospital as a Materials Handler allowed her to extend her nurturing spirit beyond her home, touching the lives of many until her retirement in April 2022. On January 13, 1973, Cindy married the love of her life, Randy S. Marinaro, after meeting him at the US 30 Dragstrip in May 1971. Together, they built a beautiful life over 40 years of marriage, until Randy's passing in August 2013. Their union was blessed with their daughter, Randee (DeeDee) Marinaro-Kroush, who, along with her husband James M. Kroush and their cherished cat Raymond, survive Cindy and continue her legacy of love and family. Cindy had a heart full of love for animals, especially cats, and she never hesitated to care for a stray in need. Her home was filled with warmth and laughter, shared with her furry grandchildren, Ms. Lambeau Field and Brett Favre. Cindy's love extended to her brothers Donald (Anna) Tyrka and Butch Tyrka, as well as her niece Gail (Dennis) Hensley and close relatives Pennie and Chris Klucina. The Rybinski's were more than just neighbors for the last 50 years, they were also family. A woman of many talents, Cindy found joy in reading, gardening, baking, and cooking — her fried chicken was renowned among family and friends. She was an avid runner for 20 years and a devoted fan of Diet Coke, Peeps, Halloween, polar bears, Cinderella, and Chucky. Her energy was boundless, and her kindness knew no limits; she was always ready to help others, no matter the circumstance. Cindy faced life's challenges with courage and determination. Neither her diagnosis of Lupus nor her battle with Parkinson's could dampen her spirit. She approached each day with grace and tenacity, leaving an indelible mark on everyone she met. In memory of Cindy's compassion for animals, donations may be made to the Humane Society of Northwest Indiana, located in Gary, IN. Cindy E. Marinaro will be dearly missed, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her legacy of love and kindness will forever be a guiding light.
