It is with profound sadness and heartfelt honor that we announce the passing of our beloved Ciera Lenora Belinda Taylor, who departed this world peacefully at her home on September 13, 2026, surrounded by her two cherished daughters. Born on August 5, 1987, in East St. Louis, IL, Ciera was a beacon of love and resilience, and her presence will be profoundly missed by all who knew her.
Ciera was the cherished daughter of Sibyl Z. Freeman and the late Lefel Daniels. Preceding her in death were her father, her stepfather Norman Jackson Sr., her grandparents Lenora Johnson-Freeman and Johnnie Griffin Sr., and her beloved daughter Antonia C. Fitz. She leaves behind a family who will forever honor her memory, including her devoted mother, Sibyl, her treasured daughters, Diametria C. Freeman and Char'lee D. Foots, and her loving siblings: Norman T. Jackson Jr., Norvell S. Jackson, Norris T. Jackson, Norlando T. Jackson, Kimberly Swink, and Dorshea Quarrells. Her close friend Stephanie Smith was also a source of companionship and joy in her life.
Ciera's education journey saw her graduate from East St. Louis Sr. High School in 2005, a proud achievement that marked the beginning of her professional life. She found her calling in the hospitality industry, where she thrived as a dedicated Laundry Aide and Supervisor at several hotels. With a passion for beauty and creativity, Ciera also pursued studies in cosmetology, often delighting in styling hair for those she loved.
A woman of faith, Ciera grew up as a cherished member of Bethlehem Temple Church in East St. Louis, where her Great-Great Grandmother, Paralee Freeman, served as her pastor. Her faith provided a foundation of strength and compassion that was evident in her everyday life.
Ciera was the heart of her family, known for her radiant smile, acts of kindness, and vibrant personality. She was the steadfast backbone of her family, always ensuring that things were taken care of, and never once did she complain, even when weary. Her life was a testament to love and dedication, and she was always ready to lend an ear or a helping hand.
Ciera found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She loved playing cards with family and friends, indulging in shopping escapades, and immersing herself in slot machine games on her phone. Her love for family time was unparalleled, especially when it involved her daughters and their favorite outings to Texas Roadhouse or evenings spent watching TV shows, with "Law & Order" being a particular favorite.
A service to celebrate Ciera's beautiful life will be held on October 8, 2026, at 11:00. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice, in honor of Ciera's generous spirit.
