Chung-ja Kim, a beloved matriarch and dedicated educator, passed away peacefully on September 25, 2026, at the age of 98. Born on February 24, 1928, in Seoul, Korea, Chung-ja's life was a vibrant tapestry of love, learning, and leadership, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew her. The daughter of Mi-po Chang, Chung-ja was predeceased by her loving parents and her devoted husband, Wolf Zingraff. Together, they built a family and a legacy that continues to thrive. Chung-ja's memory will be cherished by her only child, Kim Zingraff-Graves, and her grandchildren, Darin Graves and his wife Kristyn, Dylan Graves and his wife Olivia, and Rachel Graves. Her legacy of love extends to her great-grandchildren, Ollie, Ozzie, and Ivy Graves, who will carry forward the values she imparted. Chung-ja's journey led her to the University of Louisville, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1956 and immediately pursued her master's studies. Her passion for education was evident in her long tenure teaching English and American History at Meyers Middle School and Seneca High School, where she shaped the minds and hearts of countless students over her 30-year career. A proud member of the Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority, Chung-ja was known for her decisive spirit and her ability to guide others with constructive criticism and a nurturing hand. Her commitment to her family was unwavering, and her home was always filled with warmth and wisdom. The family extends a heartfelt thank you to the staff at the Jeffersontown Rehabilitation Center in Jeffersontown, KY, for their compassionate care and support during her final days. A celebration of Chung-ja's life will be held on October 3, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Pearson Funeral Home on Breckinridge Lane. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of the donor's choice, honoring Chung-ja's lifelong commitment to helping others. Chung-ja Kim's life was a testament to the power of love, education, and family. Her legacy will continue to inspire those she touched, and her spirit will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
