Chuck Soday

December 24, 1950 — April 8, 2026

It is with heavy hearts and profound respect that we announce the passing of Chuck Soday, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Chuck departed this earthly life on April 8, 2026, at the age of 75, peacefully at the Ochsner New Orleans Hospice. Born on a chilly Christmas Eve in 1950 in Baton Rouge, Chuck was the cherished son of the late Donald and Margarie Soday. He was preceded in departure by his dear parents, as well as his brother, Frank Soday, and sister, Gwendolyn M. DeArmond. Chuck's journey was marked by remarkable adventures and deep commitments. A proud alumnus of Central High School, Chuck took to the skies as a Naval aviation electrician, where he honed his skills and ignited a lifelong passion for exploration. His career took him to distant lands, working as an electrician in the challenging terrains of the South Pole and Iraq, where he contributed with dedication and courage. In 2006, Chuck found his true north when he married the love of his life, Dana DeArmond, in a heartfelt ceremony in New Orleans. Together, they shared two decades of laughter, love, and world travels, often with Dana affectionately known as "Gladys" by Chuck's side. Their adventures on his beloved Harley Davidson are etched in the memories of those who knew them. Chuck's quick wit and infectious humor were as boundless as his love for his family. He was the proud and doting grandfather to four beautiful grandchildren, whose laughter fueled his spirit. He also embraced and adored his three bonus daughters, Lyndsey, Nikki, and Shaima, with an open heart and unwavering support. A celebration of Chuck's life and legacy will be held on April 13, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Chapel Gravesite, where family and friends will gather to honor a life well-lived and a man deeply loved. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the nurses of the Hospice Unit, the CNA sitters, and Dr. Halton, whose kindness and compassion provided solace during these difficult times. While Chuck's physical presence will be dearly missed, his spirit will forever light the path for those who knew and loved him. May he rest in eternal peace, embraced by the love he so generously shared with the world.
