Christy Leigh Wingo
July 30, 1963 — May 20, 2026
With heavy hearts and profound respect, we announce the passing of Christy Leigh Wingo, a beloved daughter, friend, and community pillar. Christy departed this world unexpectedly on May 20, 2026, in the comforting surroundings of her home. Born on July 30, 1963, in Roanoke, Virginia, Christy was a beacon of warmth and joy to all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Christy was the cherished daughter of the late Leonard Wingo and Alice Lovern, and was lovingly raised by her mother and step-father, Ralph Mottesheard, who also predeceased her. Despite the loss of her parents, Christy's life was enriched by the enduring presence of her friends and family, including her dear friends Linda Miller and Faith Hoxworth, her devoted aunts Pat Moneymaker and Ginny Schillen, and an expansive circle of friends who are too numerous to count.
Christy's professional journey was marked by her significant contributions to the field of health information management. Through her hard work and dedication as a Medical Coder, she eventually founded Wingo Coding, a company she proudly owned and operated until her retirement. Her career was a testament to her passion for efficiency, accuracy, and helping others navigate complex information systems.
A proud member of Lady Owned Toyotas and The Ultimate Colorado Lesbian Adventure Tribe, Christy found joy and camaraderie in these communities. Her love for nature was evident in her frequent off-roading adventures, capturing breathtaking sunsets through her lens, and her endless delight in thrift shopping. Christy's heart was full of love for her family, her loyal dogs, and her majestic horses. Above all, she cherished the time spent with her friends, often evoking laughter and joy with her infectious sense of humor.
To attempt to capture Christy's essence is to describe a soul that was as vibrant as it was kind. She possessed an endearing sense of humor that brightened the lives of those around her. Always ready to lend a helping hand or offer a comforting shoulder, Christy embodied the virtues of patience and forgiveness. Those who knew her, and even those who merely crossed her path, will deeply miss her warm presence and generous spirit.
In honor of Christy's love for animals, especially horses, donations can be made in her memory to the Colorado Horse Rescue, an organization close to her heart. Contributions can be made at Colorado Horse Rescue.
As we say farewell to Christy Leigh Wingo, let us celebrate a life that was vibrant, loving, and truly unforgettable. Her spirit will continue to inspire and uplift us, reminding us of the joy, laughter, and love she so freely shared.
