Christy passed away on May 28, 2026, at the age of 47, after a courageous and lengthy battle with illness. Her indomitable spirit and unwavering love for her family will be forever cherished by all who knew her.
Christy was born on July 19, 1978, in the warm embrace of Chatham County, North Carolina, where she began a life filled with love, laughter, and kindness. She was the cherished daughter of James and Annie Goods, and while her mother, Annie Maude Lunford Goods, predeceased her, Christy’s heart remained full from the love and teachings instilled by her mother.
Christy’s educational journey led her through the halls of Person Senior High School, which laid the foundation for her future at Person Industries. There, she dedicated her career to paper recycling, demonstrating a commitment to her work and community that was as steadfast as her character. Her colleagues and friends at Person Industries will remember her not only for her diligent work but also for her warm smile and generous spirit.
Christy was a woman of many passions. Her love for music brought rhythm and joy to her life, while her affection for stuffed animals and magazines offered her comfort and delight. She had a special affection for babies, whose innocence and laughter reflected the purity of her own heart. Her family was the core of her world, and she spent countless hours surrounded by those she loved, sharing stories and creating memories that will be treasured for generations.
Christy’s vibrant personality shone through in her love for TV shows and cartoons, especially favorites like Fat Albert and Fred Sanford, which brought laughter and joy into her home. Her whimsical nature and ability to find joy in simple pleasures were traits that endeared her to everyone she met.
Christy leaves behind a legacy of love and resilience, survived by her devoted father, James J. Goods, who stood by her side throughout her life. Her sisters, McKeba Goods and Andrea Goods Hodges, and her brother, James Gary Goods, hold their sister’s memory close, honoring her life with their own. She is also survived by her beloved aunts, Mary Louise “Tom” Pettiford and Elizabeth Blackwell, her uncle, Robert Lunsford, Sr., and her special nephew, Joshua Villines, with whom she shared a unique bond. In addition, she leaves behind numerous loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and a wide circle of friends who were touched by her kindness and warmth.
As we say goodbye to Christy, we remember a woman whose life was a testament to the power of love, the strength of family, and the beauty of a life well-lived. Her memory will be carried on in the hearts of those she loved and in the many lives she touched.
A celebration of Christy’s life will be held to honor her memory and legacy. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of choice in Christy’s name, as a way to continue her spirit of generosity and care for others.
May Christy Alfreda Person rest in eternal peace, her soul free from pain and her spirit forever cherished by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
