It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Christopher Wade Newton, who peacefully left this world on March 23, 2026, at the age of 53. Born in the charming town of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, on September 15, 1972, Chris spent his life enveloped in the warmth of family and the beauty of nature, especially the waters where he found his greatest joy.
Chris was the beloved son of the late Victor Newton and Vicki Mathis, who preceded him in death. He is survived by his cherished wife of 30 years, Lori, whose companionship and love made his journey through life a joyous one. Together, they built a family grounded in love, laughter, and shared adventures. His legacy continues through his daughter, Christian Mathis, and his son, Jordan Newton, who both inherited their father's kindness and passion for life.
A devoted grandfather, Chris's heart was full with love for his four grandchildren, including his grandson Wyatt Newton, with whom he shared countless fishing trips. These moments by the water's edge, filled with laughter and stories, were among his most treasured memories. Chris's passion for fishing was more than just a hobby; it was a way of life. Whether it was a quiet afternoon by the river or a breezy morning on the lake, Chris found solace and happiness on the fishing banks, often accompanied by his sons and grandson.
Chris's life was a testament to the power of family and friendship. His home was always filled with warmth and welcome, serving as a gathering place for family and friends. His laughter was infectious, his heart generous, and his spirit unwavering. He was a man who cherished every moment, living fully and loving deeply.
The family invites all who knew and loved Chris to celebrate his life at a service on March 25, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Pinetops Baptist Church, located at 1367 Bronco Road. As we gather to honor Chris, we remember a life well-lived, guided by the principles of kindness, loyalty, and love.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider spending a day fishing with a loved one, keeping Chris's memory alive in the ripples of the water and the shared joy of the catch. Chris Wade Newton will be dearly missed, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him.
