In Loving Memory

Christopher "Todd"
February 22, 1976 — June 15, 2026
It is with deep sorrow and loving remembrance that we announce the passing of Christopher "Todd" Morse, who departed this world on June 15, 2026, at the age of 50, following complications from a cardiac arrest. Born on February 22, 1976, in Hayti, Missouri, Todd's extraordinary life was defined by his relentless curiosity, boundless creativity, and profound love for both people and animals.
Todd's journey began in the small town of Hayti, where he was born to Jack Nathaniel Morse and Betty Jane Morse. His early years were marked by an insatiable curiosity and a love for baseball, which he pursued with unwavering determination until a torn rotator cuff redirected his path. This setback, however, only served to reveal Todd's resilience and adaptability, qualities that would characterize his life.
An alum of Jefferson City High School, class of 1994, Todd's academic journey led him to Baylor University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Philosophy in 1998. His passion for debate and diplomacy flourished, and he became a valued member of the debate, Model United Nations, and Model Arab League teams. His insatiable quest for knowledge continued at the Thomas Jefferson School of Law, where he graduated with a Juris Doctorate in 2003.
Todd's professional life was as diverse and impactful as his personal one. He began his career as an on-air announcer at KJMO, KBXR, and KLIK in Jefferson City and Columbia, Missouri, where his deep, melodious voice made him a beloved radio personality. Yet, it was his role as a consumer bankruptcy attorney in Colorado, starting in 2005, where Todd truly made his mark. His legal acumen and compassionate approach helped countless individuals navigate financial hardships, and his arguments became part of the fabric of state-wide judicial decisions. Alongside his beloved wife, Donelle, Todd shared his expertise through weekly bankruptcy educational courses on a Colorado radio station, providing guidance and hope to many.
Married to Donelle Ekdahl-Morse since January 16, 2010, Todd's love for his family was unparalleled. The couple shared 16 beautiful years of marriage, and Todd's devotion to Donelle was matched only by his love for their extended family, including his mother Betty Jane Morse, father Jack Nathaniel Morse, sister Michelle Ernst, and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. His affection extended to his cherished border collies, Ori, Gus, and Ben, who were as much a part of his family as anyone else.
Todd's talents were not confined to his professional life. He was an ingenious builder and restorer, known for his ability to visualize and create solutions from scratch. Whether it was designing a custom rotisserie device for his car restoration projects or building an electrolysis system in his backyard, Todd's inventive spirit knew no bounds. His creativity was not driven by a desire to save money but by the joy of learning and creating.
Outside of work, Todd was an avid antique car restorer and a valued member of local Model T clubs, like the HAMB. His love for animals was lifelong, from his childhood companion, Trapper the collie, to his "co-counsel" border collies Lucy, Gus, Ori, and Ben, or his mischievous ferret Sir Lancelot. In addition to restoring antique cars, Todd also enjoyed rock climbing, hiking, and riding motorcycles. Todd's gentle nature and dry sense of humor endeared him to all who knew him.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on July 3, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Calvary Baptist Church, located at 102 South 2nd Street, Hayti, Missouri 63851. For those unable to attend in person, a livestream of the service will be available at evt.live/Christopher-todd-morse-celebration-of-life.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to your local humane society or the Border Collie Rescue & Rehab (bcrrt.com; info@bcrrt.com) in Todd’s memory, honoring his lifelong love for animals.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to all who have offered words of encouragement and support during this time. Todd's legacy will forever be remembered in the lives he touched, the family he cherished, and the world he left undeniably better through his presence.
Rest in peace, dear Todd. You will be profoundly missed and forever loved.
