Christopher Stephen Chewning
July 12, 1996 — October 26, 2026
We are deeply saddened to announce the sudden passing of Christopher Stephen Chewning, who left us far too soon on October 26, 2026, at the age of 30. Born on July 12, 1996, in the charming town of Derry, Northern Ireland, Christopher’s life, though tragically cut short, was filled with love, laughter, and unforgettable memories.
Christopher was the beloved son of David M Chewning and Kathleen McFall (Chewning), and he grew up surrounded by the warmth and affection of a close-knit family. His stepfather, Marc McFall, played a significant role in his life, and he cherished the time spent with his Grandma Carol Chewning. Christopher is survived by his siblings, Craig Chewning in Sydney, Australia, and Erin, Amy, and Fiona in Limerick, Northern Ireland. His beautiful girlfriend, Emma-Jane, was by his side, sharing in his joys and dreams.
Education was important to Christopher, and he graduated from Saint Anne's High School in Derry in 2014. He found his passion in stone masonry and, since 2017, honed his craft at Superior Stone, a company owned by his stepfather. His work was not just a job; it was a testament to his dedication, skill, and love for creating something enduring.
Christopher's life was not only about work. He was a talented athlete, a member of the Derry Boxing Club, where he achieved the impressive rank of #2 in Northern Ireland in 2016. His love for sports extended to golf, a game he played with the same enthusiasm and joy that he brought to all aspects of his life.
Known for his great sense of humor, Christopher had the rare gift of making everyone around him laugh, and his circle of friends and family was extensive. His laughter and kindness were the bonds that held his community together, and he was always there for those he loved.
He is predeceased by his Grandpa "Pete" Clifford Chewning, Grandpa John Hasson, Grandma Kathleen Hasson, and cousin Dylan McNichol. Their memories, along with Christopher's, will be cherished by the family and friends he leaves behind.
A service to celebrate Christopher's life will be held on November 2, 2026, at 9:00 AM at Saint Anne's Catholic Church R.C., located at 24 Derry Road, Limerick, Northern Ireland V94T9PX. For those who cannot attend in person, a livestream of the service will be available.
