Christopher Stanley Miller
April 19, 1952 — October 26, 2026
Christopher Stanley Miller, a cherished soul, was born on April 19, 1952, in Newport, New Hampshire, and passed away on October 26, 2026, at the Elmwood Center in Claremont, NH, after a long illness. His life was a testament to warmth, generosity, and an enduring love for family, friends, and the great outdoors.
Chris was the beloved son of Stanley and Jacquelynn Miller, whom he joins in peace along with his nephew Christopher Millios and his dear Golden Retriever, Ellery. He leaves behind a legacy of love and humor, remembered fondly by his children, his daughter Amy Millios, and his siblings: sister Andrea and her husband Gerald Desautels of South Burlington, VT, sister Jan Sargent of New London, NH, and brother Jeff of Newport. His extended family includes nephews Greg Desautels and Jackson Miller, nieces Renae Perotte and Madison Miller, and his adored great-niece Marley Beers and great-nephew Sullivan Beers. Chris was also blessed with the steadfast friendship of Brad and Donnie Hemingway and Paul Spanos, who shared many of his life's adventures.
A proud graduate of Newport High School in 1970, Chris followed in his father's footsteps, dedicating over 25 years to the family business of buying and selling timber until his father's passing in 2001. He retired in 2010, leaving behind a career filled with hard work and dedication.
Chris's life was rich with passions, from hunting and fishing in his youth with his father to his lifelong enthusiasm for the Boston Red Sox, the New York Giants, and professional boxing. His adventurous spirit took him on many journeys across the United States with his dear friends, Brad and Donnie Hemingway. Perhaps one of his greatest joys was managing and playing for his own team, Miller Real Estate, in Men's Modified Pitch Softball. The team achieved significant success across leagues in Newport, Claremont, and Keene, as well as in tournaments throughout New England.
Known for his quick wit and generous nature, Chris was a man who valued the bonds of family and friendship above all else. His humor and kindness left a lasting impression on those fortunate enough to know him.
A service to honor and celebrate Chris's life will take place on October 30, 2026, at 4:00 PM at the Newton-Bartlett Funeral Home, located at 42 Main Street, Newport, NH. The Miller family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Elmwood Care Center for their compassionate care and dedication during Chris's final days.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly suggests donations in Chris's memory to a charity of one's choice, reflecting his spirit of generosity and love for others.
