Born in Dallas, Texas, on August 15, 1965, Chris was a beacon of laughter, warmth, and dedication, leaving a legacy of love and resilience. Chris was the beloved son of the late Maxine and Richard Cowan, whose spirits he now joins, alongside cherished family members who predeceased him, including his aunts Mary Love Sanders and Norma Jean Sanders, grandmother Alice Mckelleum, Aunt Betty Faye Williams, and great-grandmother Selma Burton. Among his closest confidants, he reunites with his best friend, Kaye Irvin. He is survived by his devoted wife, Carlice Huey-Cowan, whom he married in a beautiful ceremony in June 2024 in their hometown of Dallas. Chris shared a special bond and enduring friendship with Sade McDade, the mother of his beloved sons Joelicie and Jai'lynn McDade. He also leaves behind his stepsons, Jordan Kimble and Logan Huey, and his stepdaughter, Ivy Christina Huey. His extended circle of love includes dear friends Eric Caldwell, Paul and Kenneth TruevillianBuggs, Demond, Renee Nelms, and his cousins Elka, Todjera, Bruce, and Kimiest Sanders, along with Shannon R, Gail, Jim, Dakota, and many more who cherished his vibrant presence. Chris's educational journey was marked by a passion for learning and skills development. A graduate of Lamar Consolidated High School in 1980, he pursued his interests in various fields, earning credentials from Everest College in Electrical Studies in 2010, and Automotive Electrician in 2003, among others. He was a trained underwater welder from the Houston Marine Institute in 1981 and a carpenter at Gulf Coast Trade School, with a brief academic stint at Prairie View A&M in 1983-84. Professionally, Chris was an exceptional electrician, celebrated for his ability to fix and create anything with finesse and ingenuity. He founded Chris Services, where his talent and hard work earned him a reputation as a master craftsman and problem-solver. Beyond his professional achievements, Chris was a man of varied interests and cherished hobbies. He was an avid chicken enthusiast, enjoyed the strategic challenge of puzzle games, and found joy in both playing and watching basketball. His love for reading and writing revealed his introspective and creative nature, always seeking to expand his horizons and inspire others to do the same. Chris's life was characterized by his infectious smile and hearty laughter, qualities that endeared him to all who knew him. He was known for his ability to uplift others, encouraging them to strive for their best while never losing sight of the simple joys in life. The family wishes to extend a heartfelt message to all those who shared in Chris's journey: "Thank you for blessing my life with yours."
