Christopher G. Orioli, born on September 14, 1956, on Fort Rucker Army Base in Alabama, departed this world on August 4, 2026, at his home on Atherton Road in Wilmington, Vermont. After spending 19 fulfilling years in Somerset loving the wildlife, he leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and adventure that will be cherished by all who knew him. Christopher was the beloved son of Albert and Margaret, who preceded him in death. He served his country with honor as a member of the United States Navy, a testament to his unwavering dedication and patriotism. After his service, Christopher embarked on a career that took him across the vast expanses of America, driving a tractor-trailer truck from coast to coast. His journeys were not just about the miles traveled, with stops in Colorado, Wyoming, Utah, Montana, California, Georgia, Florida and Connecticut. but the countless connections made along the way. In his personal life, Christopher found joy in nature's embrace. Chris was the Mountain Man. He was an enthusiastic paddler of the many branches of the Deerfield River and a devoted seeker of moose horns, often accompanied by his loyal dogs. His love for the outdoors was further exemplified through his fishing expeditions and explorations of Bourne Pond and Shep Meadow in Somerset. These adventures were a source of endless stories, often shared with a great smile and a hearty laugh, qualities for which he was fondly remembered. A man of faith, Christopher was an active member of the West Halifax Vermont Bible Church. His commitment to his community and his faith was an integral part of his life. Those who knew him will remember his generous spirit and his dedication to his church family. Christopher's family extends their heartfelt gratitude to his doctors, nurses, and caregivers from Bennington, Wilmington, and Brattleboro, whose compassionate care provided comfort and support during his final days. Also, to his Lifelong friend Donald Maty, Grace Hough, Mark Yule, James Cook and Bob Fairclough. Also, Don Gero who precided him. Christopher loved buying firewood from Chris Crafts and talking about Somerset. A memorial service to celebrate Christopher's life will be held on Sunday, October 4, 2026, at the West Halifax Bible Church, located in West Halifax, Vermont 05358. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly suggests donations be made to the West Halifax Bible Church, Pastor Aaron Tefft, PO Box 86, West Halifax, VT 05358, in Christopher's memory. Or the Bennington Animal Hospital. Christopher's presence in our lives was a blessing, and while he will be deeply missed, his spirit will forever echo in the hearts of those who loved him.
