It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for her life that we announce the passing of Christine Wilson, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, who departed this life on April 10, 2026, after a courageous battle with illness. Christine was born on August 20, 1947, in Jackson, Mississippi, to the late Jonnie and Darlene Russell. She lived a life full of love, service, and devotion to her family and community. Christine was predeceased by her loving parents, her siblings Billie Russell, Earnestine King, and Poochie Russell, her devoted husband Robert Wilkes, and her cherished son Maurice Wilkes. Her legacy lives on through her surviving children: Maury Wilkes, Troy Wilkes, Marcellus Wilkes, Sharon Wilkes, and Shatone Wilkes. She also leaves behind her adored grandchildren: Marcellous Turner, Isaiah Whitfield, Matthew Northern, Bianca Ivory, Kierra Watkins, Markaja Jackson, and Brittany Jackson, along with a host of aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family, and close friends. Christine's journey of love and commitment began when she married Robert Wilkes in 1965, a union that was blessed with a family who will continue to honor her memory. She graduated from Oak Grove High School in 1965, and her passion for beauty led her to Alberto's Beauty College, where she became a licensed cosmetologist in 1986. Her career was marked by dedication and skill, as she worked part-time in cosmetology while also serving as an aerospace overhaul mechanic with Hamilton Sundstrand for 25 years, retiring on July 21, 2013. Christine was a faithful member of Mt. Goshen Full Baptist Gospel Church, where her concern for those in need was evident through her charitable works. Her spirit of giving and compassion touched many lives and reflected her deep faith and love for her community. Beyond her professional and spiritual endeavors, Christine found joy in shopping, traveling, and crafts. These hobbies brought her peace and happiness and were often shared with those she loved. A celebration of Christine's life will be held on April 20, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Mt. Goshen Full Baptist Gospel Church, located at 1102 Cunningham St. The family extends their heartfelt thanks to all who have supported them during this difficult time and invites you to join them in honoring Christine's remarkable life. As we remember Christine, we are comforted by the words from 2 Corinthians 5:8: "We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord." Her unwavering faith assures us that she is now at peace in the presence of the Lord. Christine Wilson's life was a testament to love, resilience, and grace. Her memory will forever be cherished by those who were blessed to know her.
