In Loving Memory of Christine Mona Stead
It is with heavy hearts and cherished memories that we announce the passing of Christine Mona Stead, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Christine left this world on March 12, 2026, surrounded by love, just shy of her 75th birthday. She was born on April 13, 1951, in Joliet, Illinois, to Fredrick and Mona (Owens) Knepple. Christine was a beacon of warmth and generosity, touching the lives of everyone she encountered.
Christine spent her early years in Appleton, Wisconsin, where she grew up alongside her brothers, William and Richard. She graduated from Appleton West High School in 1969 and went on to nurture her enthusiasm for the English language at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. Although life led her down diverse paths, her passion for language and learning remained steadfast throughout her life.
Her professional journey unfolded largely within the restaurant industry, where she managed several establishments in the Shawano area. Christine's dedication and leadership transformed these venues into welcoming havens for both patrons and staff. Later, she embraced a fulfilling role at the UW Extension office, serving the county with dedication and pride. She often reminisced about the meaningful connections and rewarding experiences she had in both careers.
A woman of many talents, Christine's life was enriched by her diverse hobbies and interests. A lifelong fan of the Green Bay Packers, she could be found cheering passionately at every game. Her creativity found expression in knitting and crocheting, where her nimble fingers crafted a myriad of beautiful creations. Cooking was another avenue for her love and care, providing comfort to many. Her feline companions also held a special place in her heart, offering solace and companionship over the years.
Above all, Christine's heart belonged to her family. As a devoted grandmother, she found joy and fulfillment in nurturing her granddaughters, Gabriela and Lexis Stead. She celebrated their accomplishments and milestones, cherishing every moment shared. Her love was boundless, leaving an indelible mark on their lives.
Christine is survived by her brother Richard Knepple; her daughters Jena (Stead) Sales and Kimie Stead-Ajana; and her precious grandchildren, Gabriela Stead and Lexis Stead. She is now reunited with her parents, Fredrick and Mona, and her brother William, in eternal peace.
In accordance with Christine's wishes, a private funeral ceremony will be held to honor her life and legacy. Though her physical presence is no longer with us, her spirit, love, and laughter will forever echo in our hearts. Christine Mona Stead will be deeply missed, but her legacy of love and kindness will continue to inspire all who knew her.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a local animal shelter or charity of choice, in honor of Christine's love for animals and her generous spirit.
