It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Christina Marie Johnson, a beloved mother, partner, daughter, sister, and friend. Christina departed this world on April 26, 2026, at the age of 48, after bravely battling cancer. She was surrounded by her loving family in Kalamazoo, Michigan, the very place where her life's journey began on May 7, 1977.
Christina was the cherished daughter of Gloria Jean Johnson and the late Ronald Lee Johnson. Her childhood was colored with the vibrant memories of growing up in Kalamazoo, alongside her siblings and extended family, who were always close to her heart. Christina's father, Ronald, and her Uncle Richard Johnson predeceased her, leaving behind an enduring legacy of love and family values.
A proud graduate of Decatur High in Decatur, Alabama, Christina carried the warmth of the South in her heart wherever she went. Her compassionate spirit found expression in her community involvement. Christina was well known for her dedication to helping others, often volunteering at the local thrift store, offering service and solace to families in need. Her work was not just a job but a calling, a way to extend her love and care to those who needed it most.
Family was the cornerstone of Christina's life. She was the devoted mother of two daughters, Tiarra Johnson and Aliahana Calhoun, who were her heart and soul. Her long-time partner of 22 years, Kenneth Calhoun, stood by her side through life's many ups and downs. Christina's warmth and laughter were infectious, and her home was always open to family and friends, filled with love and laughter.
Christina is survived by her loving mother, Gloria Jean Johnson, her brother William Minor (Gerald Florida) of Flint, MI, and her sisters Stephanie Johnson and Brittney Johnson, both of Kalamazoo, MI. She also leaves behind her Uncle James Johnson of Kalamazoo, Aunt Joann Brown of Alabama, and her beloved granddaughter, Bryelle, who brought immense joy and light into her life.
Those who knew Christina will remember her for her unwavering positivity, her giving nature, and her ever-present smile. She never complained, even in the face of life’s greatest challenges, choosing instead to embrace each day with gratitude and grace.
A service to celebrate Christina's life will be held on May 8, 2026, at 4:00 PM.
