In Loving Memory
Christgene L. Staten
October 27, 1998 — November 26, 2025
It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of our beloved Christgene Staten, who left this world far too soon on November 26, 2025, at the tender age of 27. Born on October 27, 1998, in Dayton, Ohio, Christgene was a beacon of light and joy to all who knew him.
Christgene was a vibrant soul, cherished for his humor, gratitude, and perpetually smiling face. A proud graduate of Dunbar High School, he carried his love for creativity into adulthood, where he expressed himself through drawing and rapping. Recently, he embraced the role of a father with immense love and dedication, finding joy and purpose in nurturing his son, Acen Staten.
Family was at the heart of Christgene's life. Although he has left behind a void that will never be filled, he is survived by his loving mother, Camela Staten (Shawn), and his devoted stepfather, Derrick Puttman. His siblings, Kamica Vann, Alexis Harris, and Faithe Staten (Jermaine), mourn the loss of their dear brother, while his son Acen will carry forward his father’s legacy of love and laughter.
Christgene was preceded in death by his father, Leeland Warnock Sr., and his brother, Antuan Warnock, along with his grandfather Johnny Debrill, great-grandparents Oneal and Beverly Staten, niece Trinity Elam, and cousin Ciarra Chapman. Their spirits undoubtedly welcomed him with open arms.
He is also survived by an extended family that includes his niece Reighn Jackson, nephew Tai'rese Elam, grandparents Pamela (Mark) Hunter, aunts Itasca Bryant, Johnetta Debrill Moore, and his special aunt Latina Smart. Numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends join in celebrating the life of a man whose presence was a gift to all who knew him.
Christgene's life will be celebrated on March 27, 2026, at the House of Wheat located on Gettysburg. The service will begin at 12:00 PM. It will be a time to reflect on the joy, love, and laughter he brought into our lives, as we honor the memory of a young man who touched us all with his genuine kindness and infectious spirit.
In these times of sorrow, we find solace in the legacy Christgene leaves behind—a testament to his loving nature and the profound impact he had on those around him. Though he is no longer with us in body, his spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved him.
Rest in peace, dear Christgene. You will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.
