In loving memory, we celebrate the life of Christgene L. Staten, a cherished son, father, brother, and friend, who departed this world unexpectedly on November 26, 2025. Born on October 27, 1998, in Dayton Ohio, Christgene's life, though brief, was filled with laughter, creativity, and love. Christgene was the beloved son of Camela Staten and the late Leeland Warnock. His life was intertwined with the love of his family, both those who predeceased him and those who survive him. Preceding him in death were his father, Leeland Warnock; his grandmother, Joyce Bitts; his brother, Antuan Warnock (affectionately known as Leelee); his grandfather, Johnny Debrill; his great-grandparents Oneal and Beverly Staten; his niece, Trinity Elam; and his cousin, Ciarra Chapman. Each held a special place in his heart, and their memories were treasures he carried with him. Christgene is survived by his most precious legacy, his son, Acen Staten, who will grow up surrounded by the stories and love of his father. He is also survived by his devoted mother, Camela Staten, and his stepfather, Derrick Putman, who supported him in his journey. His sisters Kamica Vann, Alexis Harris, Faithe Staten, Isyss Putman, and Shateal Warnock, will forever hold him close in their hearts. His nephew Tai'Rese Elam and niece Reighn Jackson, as well as his grandmother Pamela (Mark) Hunter, special aunt LaTina Smart, and aunts Itasca Bryant and Johnetta (Richard) Moore, will continue to honor his memory. Special cousins Keon, Keairra Zafr, and Samantha Colier, along with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends, will remember Christgene for his loyalty, understanding, and unwavering faith. Christgene attended Dunbar High School, where he nurtured his passion for drawing and rapping, often capturing the world around him through his music and art. Those who knew him well remember his infectious smile and sense of humor, qualities that brightened the lives of everyone he encountered. His artistic talents were a testament to his creative spirit, and his recordings will continue to resonate with those who loved him. A memorial service will be held to honor Christgene's life on March 30, 2026, at 12:00 PM at the House of Wheat, located at 2107 N Gettysburg Avenue, Dayton, Ohio 45406. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to the memorial fund established in his name on GoFundMe, to support his son's future and to continue Christgene's legacy of love and generosity. The Staten family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the House of Wheat for their support and compassion during this difficult time. Christgene's light will forever shine in the hearts of those he touched, and his memory will be cherished always.
