It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of Chona Tieman, a beloved wife, mother, sister, daughter, and friend. Chona departed this world on May 18, 2026, at the age of 53, leaving behind a legacy of love and kindness that touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.
Born on April 27, 1973, in the beautiful Philippines, Chona was the cherished daughter of Felino and Marietta. Her childhood was imbued with the rich culture and vibrant spirit of her homeland, which she carried with her throughout her life. Though her mother, Marietta, predeceased her, Chona’s memory will forever live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
Chona was the devoted wife of Mark, a partnership that was a testament to enduring love and companionship. Together, they raised their son, Matthew, who was the light of her life. Chona’s nurturing spirit was not limited to her family alone; her role as a daycare teacher allowed her to extend her boundless affection and patience to countless children, each of whom she treated as if they were her own. Her later years saw her working as a cashier, where her friendly demeanor and warm smile brightened the days of all who crossed her path.
She is survived by her loving husband, Mark, her son, Matthew, her brother, Ruel, and her sisters, Arlene and Ana. Each of them cherished Chona’s unwavering support and the joy she brought into their lives.
Chona’s interests were as diverse as they were enriching. She found joy in every endeavor, whether it was reading a new book or embarking on new adventures that brought happiness to herself and those around her. Her curiosity and zest for life were contagious, inspiring everyone she met to embrace the world with open arms.
A woman of immense compassion, Chona had a heart as vast as the ocean. Her empathy knew no bounds, and she was always ready to lend a helping hand or a listening ear. She was dedicated to proving the depth of her love and commitment to her family, never missing an opportunity to show her devotion as a mother and wife.
