It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Cheryl Woods, a beloved member of our community, who departed this world on April 21, 2026, at the age of 79, due to health complications arising from diabetes. Born on February 19, 1947, in McGee, Arkansas, Cheryl lived a life marked by resilience, grace, and an unwavering love for her family and faith. Cheryl spent her early years in the close-knit town of McGee, Arkansas, surrounded by the warmth and camaraderie of her large family. As one of ten siblings, Cheryl learned the values of togetherness, empathy, and perseverance from a young age—qualities that she carried with her throughout her life. In the 1960s, Cheryl moved to Kansas City, Missouri, in pursuit of a brighter future. There, she embarked on a remarkable journey through the realms of corporate America, becoming a beacon of success and a role model for many. Despite the challenges she faced, Cheryl's determination and brilliance allowed her to carve out a successful career while also achieving her academic dreams. In 1991, she proudly graduated from the University of Kansas City, Missouri, a testament to her lifelong commitment to learning and self-improvement. Cheryl's life was not only defined by her professional accomplishments but also by her deep devotion to her family and faith. She was a loving mother to her predeceased daughter, Cynthia Woods, and a cherished grandmother to her six grandchildren: Aviance, DesJuan, Bionca, Jamar, Derek, and Tywane. Her legacy lives on through her eight great-grandchildren, who will continue to feel the warmth of her love and the strength of her spirit. A faithful member of the McGee Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, Cheryl dedicated her time and energy to serving her community and living her life in the service of the Lord. Her steadfast faith was a guiding light not only for herself but also for those around her. Cheryl's athletic spirit found joy in swimming and being active, reflecting her belief in the importance of a balanced and healthy life. Cheryl is survived by her numerous siblings, who remain to celebrate her life and the indelible impact she made on all who knew her. Her memory will forever be cherished by those who were fortunate enough to know her kindness, wisdom, and unwavering strength. A service to honor and celebrate Cheryl's extraordinary life will be held on April 24, 2026, at 11:30 AM at the McGee Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, located at 202 Church, McGee, Arkansas, 71654. Family, friends, and community members are invited to gather in remembrance of a remarkable woman who touched so many lives with her generosity, compassion, and enduring faith. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to diabetes research organizations, reflecting Cheryl's enduring hope for a healthier future for others. Cheryl Woods leaves behind a legacy of love, determination, and faith. Her spirit will continue to inspire all who knew her, and her memory will remain a cherished blessing in the hearts of her family and friends. May she rest in eternal peace.
